Did anyone believe EA could make a good Star Wars game anyway?

How can Disney possibly be pleased with how EA is handling Star Wars games? Why don't they find a new company to work with? Is EA just able to outbid the shite out of everyone else for exclusive rights to the point Disney really doesn't care wtf they do?
They could cancel every single one of these for the next 5 years and I wouldn't care at this point. The "open world" genre as it exists today is completely tired and uninteresting IMO.
The Uncharted style Star Wars game that was the original product actually sounded moderately appealing.

Totally agreed, outside of a few select franchises (e.g. Elder Scrolls) AAA open world-single player games are dead at the moment and they certainly don’t fit EA’s microtransaction formula. Maybe the “smaller project” alluded to in the Kotaku article will be something more linear and plot driven that they can build on.
I miss those Lucas Arts games so much, I would love to see a return to the Rogue Squadron series with an arcadey-ish flying combat game but I think that just might be because I’m getting old.

EA doing a whole lot of nothing with the Star Wars license over the past few years.
Lucasarts was pumping out games almost nonstop. Think about this, Star Wars Galaxies, Kotor, Jedi Academy, and Rogue Squadron 3 all came out in a four month period.
Besides the two Battlefronts, EA can’t even get a game to the point where it’s publically announced.

I'll make a bold prediction and say that companies like EA and Activision will never make another big budget primarily single player game ever again.
Whether or not a game can move micortransactions is now the #1 priority for these companies.

You casual pidgeons will suck this company’s nuts enough to make them think this is okay.

I’ve given up hope on getting to play a new legit Star Wars game.

Probably the same way they can be pleased with TLJ.

I remember enjoying star war games for the n64 but that's about it. I do like the idea of them doing an uncharted style star wars game though.

Good guy EA, not firing people

Happens at the drop of a dime in the gaming industry. Telltale ended up hiring a person, and said person moved cross country for the job, the week that they shut down.
It's brutal.

Cancel linear game that Visceral was working on, hand it to another studio to make open world game, then cancel open world game because something of that scope will take too long to develop
Disney Lucasfilm and EA are a perfect match in their incompetence.

Sweet. Cancel one game to make a quicker game. Does that mean worse?
I am actually happy to see open world games get cancelled.

No, they should have gotten Treyarch to do Star Wars games.

Quite a bit of Star Wars games have been cancelled due to EA. 1313 and an untitled Darth Maul game were cancelled when Disney shuttered LucasArts. Now Amy Hennig's game goes from basically dead to 100% dead.
Meanwhile the only games that have launched have been two Battlefront games and a slew of mobile titles. Battlefront 1 was actually an enjoyable game once they released the DLC, but I just don't like Battlefront 2 as much. The microtransaction fiasco pretty much killed any chance for there to be major content updates in the way that Battlefront 1 received.

lol at Disney
It takes a lot to frick up and piss off the star wars nerds.
Not only did they do a horrible job with their games going to EA, but their vision on Star wars has completely shite the bed.
ESPN has been a shite show. Iger better thank Walt and that little mouse. The company would be fricked if it wasn't for them.
