Gissel also unveiled the slogan of an upcoming campaign conceived by the efficiency experts that aims to drastically reduce water use city wide. Gissel comments, "When you see the first billboards of 'If it's yellow, let it mellow; If it's brown, flush it down!!' you will amazed by the administration's dedication to its citizenry and stewardship of their tax dollars."

Who is stupider, the efficiency experts, the people who paid them, or the people who think this is brilliance they couldn’t have come up with on their own?
I would say the people getting paid $300k to come up with such novel concepts as “prevent shite from getting stolen” aren’t really that dumb. 6 figures to “study” common sense. Brilliant!!!

isn't anyone concerned that these people who were elected by the populace couldn't figure this shite out?!
When since this administration was elected did you get the idea that anyone wasn't concerned? It's kinda been a very common theme around here since day 1.

Nah, they're probably flabbergasted that such basic things aren't being done.
It's like paying a tutor for calculus lessons, but come to fined out, you need help with basic addition first.
It's hard to blame the consultants imo.

Just imagine what they could learn with $500K in consulting fees!

I'm so glad that our mayor has the proper vision for the future of our city."

The consultants are spending weeks at city hall because it’s a cluster and the peeps they are meeting with are all pushing their agendas. The “answer” for all this is more money for the workers, which isn’t going to do shite except justify a pay raise for her cronies. This will, however, boost Broome’s political points with her people plus if the recommendations work she looks good and if they don’t, she has a scapegoat.
quote:
Newfarmer says it will be critical to use those savings to help fund pay raises for city employees at multiple levels—both hourly workers, who make as little as $7.25 an hour in some cases, and also upper-level managers. Baton Rouge isn’t able to recruit top management talent because it’s unable to pay competitive salaries, he says. “Most municipalities of the size and prominence of Baton Rouge are able to compete regionally for senior executives,” he says. “So we need to free up some money in the budget … that is a high priority going forward.”

They know what best practices are.
I used to think NOLA was the worst from a corrupt and stupidity standpoint in regards to how things are done/ran. Hawaii isn't far behind. These dumb MFers wanted to spend $3mm to get an idea why the street lights are so messed up and traffic is so bad. All you have to do is drive the roads to see how un-synchronized they are to go along with a host of other stupid things. I wanted to call and offer to take 10% of that to tell them what's up
ETA: To at least give credit to "dumb voters" people went so nuts it didn't happen. Even the news was asking wtf.
