“(1) Club-Controlled Sound: The home club does not have the prerogative to decide if such sound hampers signal calling. While spontaneous crowd noises may be beyond immediate control, noise of any kind (music, horns, gongs, drums, etc.) that is under club control must cease when the play clock (40 or 25 second) is running and the visiting team is in possession of the ball. Flagrant attempts by cheerleaders, mascots or the public-address system to encourage crowd noise for the purpose of disrupting the visiting team’s offense while the play clock is running is prohibited. The use of noise meters or such messages as “Noise!,” “Let’s hear it!,” “Raise the Roof,” “Let’s go Crazy,” “Pump it up,” “12th Man” are prohibited at any time during the game.”

There's no way this is enforced. There's literally a clip of different players in between almost every drive, sometime snap, on defense telling the crowd to ramp it up.

Are you people serious? The noise meter isn’t meant or reported to actually measure the noise. We don’t have one at the dome. It’s just a graphic that goes up on 3rd down and moves up and down to get everyone excited.

Not sure if you all R serious though.

If you notice, the screen does not say "dB" or any form of unit of measure.

It is just a number, that they move up and down to get the crowd to react.

It's the same of most stadiums. Unless it is a video of an actual video of a decibel meter, don't take it too seriously.

Just get loud and enjoy the fact that the Dome is one of (if not THE) loudest stadiums in the NFL!

Well that's one of the few rules that isn't actually enforced

Damnit! You brought it to light. Now Payton will get suspended right before the NFC championship game for the "Tomfoolery Gate" ??

It sounded very loud on TV. Louder than I’ve ever heard.

I was at a meaningless Carolina game in 2013 and it was rocking at kickoff. I can’t imagine last night in there

Yeah I don’t think anyone obeys these rules. I’ve seen “Make some noise!!!” messages In Arrowhead Stadium when the Chiefs defense was on the field.

Just how loud was it in the Superdome during the Saints-Eagles Divisional Playoff game? The decibel meter in the dome recorded the highest level in Superdome history at 128. The sound actually crashed the program that records the noise level.

Quote from your link for everyone who is saying that noise meter isn't real!

This.

Who ever said that display is actually hooked up to any kind of instrumentation at all, and not just a more involved version of the "Make Some Noise!!" stuff that's flashed on boards? LOL

I mean I know it's a prop, but the totals relative to what is shown during Pels games crowd noise (virtually none), it kind of makes sense.

With really low % of traveling Rams fans Dome should be the loudest ever.

The Dome this Sunday needs to be cranked an extra notch from last Sunday....it’s a chance to go to the SB for God’s sake in your own stadium!

These don’t come around often.
