Why not let him interview and if he doesn't get a job you still have him, but by forcing his hand now.. you lose him regardless.

exactly. i think he's still a long shot for teh NFL but this is just pure disrespect on USC's part

he would have no issue getting a great gig back in college if needed.

exactly. hell UTEnn may pay him $2M/year at this point

Or he could go to Bama. That’s a guaranteed HC gig after next year

USC has no leverage to do that, they do so and he walks and if he doesn’t get a NFL HC gig, he’ll have teams lined up to get him as an OC.

They have no leverage but they also need to know who their coach is, whoever that may be. They can’t afford to let Kingsbury screw around looking at other jobs.

USC needs to realize the chances of Kliff Kingsbury getting an NFL head coaching job are slim to none. Let him interview and you build up good will with him and hopefully he hangs around a while. Block him and you’re probably looking for a new OC.

Old leadership adage here...

"Hire people that are good enough to leave. Treat them so well that they won't want to."

This is what a competent, reasonable athletic department would do. With USC, expect the dumbest, irrational option to be taken.

Right, this is ridiculous. I’d resign based upon the principle of the matter if I was Kingsbury.

I still don’t understand the fascination with him. Did they just forget he sucked at TT?

He is an inovative play caller that seems to get the most out of his qb

In the nfl, he won’t have to worry about a talent disparity and recruiting, and it won’t be on him at all to worry about defense

Kingsbury was a backup to Brady in 2003, would be funny if he ended up being his coordinator in 2019

He's a shite HC

I bet once he's older and stops spending so much time worrying about his image and slaying coed poon that he'll be a much better HC

well there is merit to the argument that in the pros (or at a better school) he would be able to field a defense with talent

mcvay showed that in the NFL your HC can give no fricks about the D and leave it to an experienced DC and you can do big things

Yep

HC in the nfl and HC in college are completely different

Kingsbury def seems like more of an nfl coach to me

remember last year when pundits freaked out about mcvay not paying attention to the defense?

hell, does Nagy really give any input into the D in Chicago? he kept fangio for a reason

what would be super scary for KK would be if he "interned" with KC for a few years. andy reid shits out HC-quality assistants
