You're saying you have caught about 10,000 pounds of bluefin tuna?
Is this what you're nitpicking me for? Some OB shitkicker pissing contest?
Yeah, you win, man. You're the best shitkicker.

I just think you have greatly exaggerated the amount of bluefin tuna you have caught.
Perhaps you have estimated it somewhat correctly?
If so, congrats! You may be one of the most successful recreational tuna fisherman in history.
I'm a member of the IGFA.
If you would let me know how to contact you, we would love to hear your story. You may also be eligible for some type of award and official recognition.

The used panty vending machines are just sad, not mind-blowing.

Well that does it, I’m going fishing.

What makes a bluefin worth that much? Also, how will any restaurant actually make money off of it at $5,000/pound?
It's advertising. American companies spend millions on advertising that is purely advertising. This guy gets to recoup a large portion of his advertising money by selling plates of sushi. Pretty smart actually.

Why is his number unusual if he really has chartered once a year for much of his life? The top boat on Wicked Tuna catches close to that total weight each year in a season that only lasts a few months.

I'm not blacking my face out of photos and posting them so you can do internet forensic science and jerk yourself off over your " knowledge."
Sorry you're too much of a plebe to afford your own celebrated hobby.

They are only “rare” in areas not in their migration pattern. The top boats catch 15-20 in a season that’s only around 12 weeks or so. They also do charters. There are also recreational fisherman catching bluefin right alongside the commercial boats. People catch bluefin in areas where bluefin migrate. They may be rare in Louisiana waters, but they aren’t rare.

My cousins live in Boston. We make a few tuna trips a year with them. Our biggest last year fetched 4,800 at the dock. It was in japan in less than 24 hours.

Because it means that he would've had to catch at least one very large bluefin every time he went fishing.
The fisherman you see on Wicked Tuna are commercial fisherman and they specifically target those large bluefin almost everyday that they are allowed to fish. Even they don't catch every time they venture out.
Yet OP claims that he has had such success over 3 decades even while recreationally fishing different areas with what I will just assume are different crews.
It seems rather unbelievable!

They aren’t that rare in The Gulf of Mexico but they have been heavily regulated for a long time due to the gulf being a spawning site for bluefin.
