We may have, thankfully, seen the last of the BoogerMobile. On Wednesday, John Ourand of the Sports Business Journal reported that Booger McFarland would be taking up a spot in ESPN’s broadcast booth alongside Jason Witten and Joe Tessitore, rather than spending the game at field level in a ridiculous cart, for the Texans-Colts playoff game on Saturday.

Last week during the Monday Night Football season finale, McFarland was shunted upstairs from his cart due to the possibility of inclement weather. With his week’s game in Houston taking place under a retractable roof, weather isn’t an issue at all, so one could reasonably assume that ESPN has made this decision either at the request of the NFL or because of the realization that the BoogerMobile wasn’t working at that the network needed to look at other options for 2019 if they wanted to keep this trio together.

I can't blame them for trying stuff. MNF has struggled to gain viewers over the years.

Why are people acting like the Booger Mobile is a new thing? ESPN used to stick Paul Maguire in one more than a decade ago.

Booger's nonstop spouting of the obvious is straight out of the Pepper Brooks school of broadcasting.

"It's third in long here, guys. Going to be hard to convert."

"You've really got to take better care of the ball than that. It is hard to win in the National Football League if you turn the ball over."

"Down three scores in the second half, they're really going to have to have a sense of urgency."

The guy sucks. Pairing him with Witten is even worse.

Granted I barely pay attention to the talking heads during a game broadcast, but I don't understand what was so bad about it....aside from looking at that mangled hand.

While I don't disagree with you, they ALLLLLL do this shite. I expect it out of the color guy, but not the analyst.

It's one of the reasons I like Romo - he's throwing shite out there that you want to hear about.

This can only help the broadcast. Booger talks too much to be an on-field analyst. He needs to be in the booth so that he and Witten aren't stepping all over each other. I still think it's a weak broadcast team but maybe this will help, at least a little bit.

It actually benefited last weekends broadcast significantly. There was really never a point where they were talking over each other or cutting one another off, two things that happened often with one guy not in the booth.

Also, for whatever reason, tessitore toned down his act.

The entire broadcast was much better.
