re: Paging Will Cover - F150 Advice

Not Will Cover but I recommend if your price point is 50k stick with 50k. I recently purchased a 2018 XLT (not OT status I know) with 3200 off invoice price (not MSRP) using Will Cover's method. I think the dealer was anxious to move the 18s out to make room for the 19s. The lot was packed The need to move the 18s will only increase but there is a sweet spot because F150s move quick and the 18s will soon be gone. Consider looking in Lake Charles and Alexandria.

If you can find 15-20k off you wont find a better deal.

You think the salesman walked outside to give him the absolute lowest price on his first visit? Which Ford dealership do you work at?
First off I generally don’t deal with the salesman so I can’t speak to his intentions
Second, I don’t work at a dealership. However, we buy new trucks every 2-3 years. I kinda know what the price points are. Not to mention my family has owned and operated a car dealership for the past 65 years. Kinda know a thing or 2.

Get online and go to cargurus.
Put in the info for the truck, options, color, etc. that you want.
Email every dealer within a few hundred miles who has that truck in stock.
In a day or two, after a few emails, you’ll have the best deal.
Go pick up your truck.
I’ve bought my last 4 or 5 cars this way, all of them out of state.
Never set foot in the dealership until I went to sign the papers.
Never had a deal change on me when I got there (including trade-ins) and always got far better deals than I could locally.

MSRP was $63k (including truck nuts). Their best offer was $54.5 before TT&L and Trade, but told them I needed it at $50k
Walk away

Just looked at the f150s in slidell. They basically gave him the internet price. No way that is the absolute bottom.

I did this recently, but ended up purchasing in town when the best deal fell in my lap 2 miles away. I was ready for a road trip. Lol.

Thanks! I have not tried this site.
For the record I have a Tahoe that is paid off and is still a very solid vehicle. Don’t “need” a new truck, so it will have to be a great deal for me to make a move.

10k off yea pass. You should be able to get 12k off.
Yes. At the larger dealerships that do more volume.
At the smaller dealerships you won’t get a much better deal.
Some smaller dealers just can’t give those trucks away like that. There’s no incentive
Believe it or not. I shopped a 2016 F150 Lariat FX4 Sport all over the state. Got it loaded, weather tech floormats, Rhino Lined and a Roll n Lock bed liner, no sun roof because those are shite. Nothing down and they gave me the most money for my trade than anyone else. Ended up paying $52k

So he should shop at a higher volume dealer. The customer should go for the best price they can find. Its not like you need to do the deal locally to have better service. My biggest issue is that the price they gave him was the walk in price on the internet. Very odd to list your bottom price if that is all they can come down.
You can always go to a higher volume dealer and tell them you like the truck a X and they can work a dealer trade as well.

Did you try Tomball Ford? I would find it hard to believe you could beat a deal from a Houston dealer. I don’t drive pickups but the radio ad seemed to good to be true.

If they have what you’re looking for.
I was very specific in what I wanted. So I called as many places as I could and told them specifically what I wanted. They all called around to other dealers to try and find the truck I wanted. It came down to one dealership that had it on their lot and I ended up just going directly to them because they had the best price.
We made the deal sight unseen. They saw pics of my trade and they had what I wanted in stock.
Everything was done over the phone and Internet. We negotiated for about 2-3 days then I drove to Breaux Bridge, signed the papers, traded out trucks and I was out of there within an hour. Easy peasy.

Is this it?
So they are offering a lower price to everyone else but you?

Thoughts?
Just get an XLT for $34k and save the rest for retirement. XLT has all that a man needs in a truck.

You must be married into that family or the black sheep if you're having to shop around all over the state.
My family has been in the business for a long time too, but we get and give sweetheart arse deals to other owners.
Hell, I could call OF or his Funroe partner and have this deal done in about 30 seconds, after telling them it was for a random arse cat on the interweb. Lol

I’m not married into the family.
I just prefer a different line of truck. I’ve owned plenty of their line to know the difference

Can you provide more details? What did you get it for? What options? I’m looking for a 2018 XLT FX4 right now.

If you can get 20k off then 15K off is obviously not a good deal, the OP walked over 3K difference.
