In honor of Paul Johnson's last game.. LSU beats GT's arse 38-3 in the 2008 CFA Bowl.

LSU headed to chilly Atlanta on New Years Eve 2008 after a disappointing 2008 season. LSU's much maligned 2008 defense ended the season on a strong note.

We all thought Jordan Jefferson was the next big thing. Les was still Les. Running a fake punt pass up 38-3 midway through the 4th.

The crowd was 80/20 Georgia Tech fans. By the 3rd quarter Georgia Tech fans were making paper airplanes out of the pamphlets in their bowl game seat gift bags and raining them down on the lower levels. Then they filed out.

He helped LSU to an undefeated regular season, an SEC championship and into the national title game. That's not too bad.

No QB has been as successful as the combo of Jefferson/Lee since they left. That is mind blowing.

Paul Johnson's fake punt attempt with a DE on 4th and 9 was GOAT.

I think I recall Paul Johnson saying a lot of disparaging things about LSU too prior to the game, which led to Les throwing a few frick you’s (The trick plays late)

I played baseball with the Johnathon Dwyer's (fullback) younger brother in the Dominican Republic one year. He said his brother told him that once they lined up against us they knew they didn't have a shot. They hadn't played a defense with size and speed like that all year. That was one of our worst defenses in a while too.

Ah those were the days. We use to call Jarrett Lee Scary Lee and we wanted Jefferson to play over Lee. Then when Jefferson finally got his shot, we wanted Lee to play over Jefferson. Those were some crazy years

It was pretty incredible how dominant LSU was that night, in light of a rocky regular season and sickening losses v. Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss and a BAD Arkansas team.

If I remember correctly Ga Tech was 10-2 and was favored in that game

I remember having trouble following the game because Georgia Tech's unusual uniform that evening looked like LSU's dark jerseys/ gold pants & helmet combo from the upper level stands. I know the Tigers did wear the purples when they played there in 2000.

BAD Arkansas team.

I’m having trouble remembering; didn’t Rahim Allem get penalized for kicking the ball after they had turned it over on downs, which should have been a dead ball foul, yet they were still given a first down?

Was at that game. The paper airplanes were pretty funny.

Met had better stats but did not go to the natty or win the SEC.

I don't remember that. I just remember the Tigers squandered a 30-14 lead and lost 30-31 on a late Hog TD pass. It was LSU's worst game in an otherwise bad season, because Arkansas was really bad that year and finished 2-6 in SEC play that season.

I think he kicked it on third down.

Also Les attempted a 63 yard field goal to win it

That would explain things.

And I just read the recap; Les said David had hit from 65 in practice. Honestly had a better probability than a Jefferson Hail Mary.

Heck, I saw Cole Tracy hit one from 67 in the pregame vs Aggy

Wasn’t that the game when Arky was going to be punting from the back of their end zone and Tremaine Johnson (I think) got that stupid-arse personal foul to give them a first and they drove down and scored? Trindon Holliday was waiting for the punt at midfield. And Les just kinda pats Tremaine on the back as if to say, “that’s okay.” That was one of the first indications of Les’s lack of discipline and the unfavorable contrast with Saban.

That was either 2008 or 2010, can’t remember which.
