Its the high school systems we run here-Put your best athlete at QB, let him scramble around until somebody gets open and then chuck it deep. They put up gaudy stats but that's not conducive to producing next level Qbs.
Then look at Texas, their high schools are big on the 7 on 7 passing and develop a ton of qbs that know how to go through a progression and are college ready. On the flip side the texas hs defenses are not as physical and that carries on to the next level as well
I came here to post exactly this.
It's not like the athletes here can't throw the football. The dumbass coaches here don't develop them as passers.
Ask yourself this. How many elite coaches has Louisiana produced?

Roughly 25% of super bowl teams have been quarterbacked by a Louisiana guy.
(Yes, that’s counting both Manning’s).
That number may drop in the future but think about that. It’s a big country and 25% percent of Super Bowl qbs have been from Louisiana in some way.
So I really don’t get your post, other than LSU has only ever had one qb start a super bowl and that was 40 years ago almost. Now that is unfortunate.

I believe LSU needs a full time Quarterback Coach. Every since Jimbo Fisher left, we have been stryggling at the position. Based on rankings, we have recruited some top quarterbacks after Jimbo, but they havent developed. Also I dont beleive we have recovered from Ryan Perrilloux being dismiised. It forced us to play Jefferson and Lee WAY before they were ready

and Alan Risher if you go back to the 80s

Until the guy last year Brees was the ONLY Texas born QB to win a Super Bowl.
His name is Nick Foles. He's pretty good.

I didn't know this, but Dak Prescott only received offers from Miss St and..... LSU. I cant imagine what swayed Dak into wanting play more at Miss St vs at LSU

OK go do Florida. Go do Georgia. QB’s are hard to find for LSU fify

I read an article about this where they said no top QB prospects come from Louisiana in the past 5 years, but then when they listed them nationally we were #10.

Jake Delhomme Peyton Manning Eli Manning Dak Prescott All of which did not attend LSU. Another notable, Terry Bradshaw went to LA Tech. LSU is historically a non-QB driven program. It’s nothing new.
LSU had zero chance of getting the Mannings.
That’s not an LSU thing, that’s a Manning thing.
Terry Bradshaw would have loved to come to LSU.
He could not make the grade.

This has been repeated ad nauseum and Bradshaw himself has played it up but back in the 60s, all a Louisiana kid needed to get into ANY public university in Louisiana was a high school diploma and a body temperature of 98.6 !

Notice how all of those guys received good coaching at some point.

I'm pretty sure Les waited to the very end before offering. I don't blame Dak for taking the State offer, he probably would have never seen the field based on our ability to evaluate quarterbacks.
