There have only been 4:

Jake Delhomme
Peyton Manning
Eli Manning
Dak Prescott

By comparison there have been 54 defensive backs from Louisiana over that same time frame.

That is the biggest reason why we are DBU and not QBU. Louisiana doesn't produce a lot of high-end college QBs. We have to go out-of-state where the recruiting battles are often uphill, or get transfers like Mett, Etling, and Burrow.

Not as glaring difference as you think

4 starting defensive backs on each team, multiplied by 32 teams multiplied by 20 years is 2,560

1 starting QB of each team, multiplied by 32 teams multiplied by 20 years is 640.

This doesnt even account for the fact starting defensive backs are shuffled through far more than Qbs

Anyway, 53/2560 is 2%, and 4/640 is 0.63%

Its the high school systems we run here-Put your best athlete at QB, let him scramble around until somebody gets open and then chuck it deep. They put up gaudy stats but that's not conducive to producing next level Qbs.
Then look at Texas, their high schools are big on the 7 on 7 passing and develop a ton of qbs that know how to go through a progression and are college ready. On the flip side the texas hs defenses are not as physical and that carries on to the next level as well.

That’s a bad excuse because Texas is right next door and I’d bet they’re top 3 to 5 in states that put out NFL QBs. For example Matt Stafford played at Uga but comes from Texas, Drew Brees to Purdue. It’s just a fact of life that most QBs come from Texas, California and the Pennsylvania area, everyone not just LSU has to adjust to it.

FYI excuse was a poor choice of word, I know you weren’t trying to make an excuse.

Until the guy last year Brees was the ONLY Texas born QB to win a Super Bowl. So there’s that. Louisiana norm QBs are either 3rd or 4th on the list for the most SB wins...

It should never be hard to get a good QB at a school like LSU. They’ve just sucked at evaluating QB talent and developing it.

Of course our boys are gamers but I thought we were talking about college recruits that made it to the NFL and how it pertains to LSUs recruiting of QBs?

All of which did not attend LSU. Another notable, Terry Bradshaw went to LA Tech. LSU is historically a non-QB driven program. It’s nothing new.

But Joe Burrow is pretty damn good and has potential to do something big in 2019.

. I was just pointing this out because all of the QBs on the list - even Doug williams were at most scrambling QBs with that majority of them being pocket passers.
The game has changed to a 7:7 affair and that’s one reason why. Didn’t LHSAA bam 7:7 T one point?

Not sure but I do agree with us having tons of option style QBs in the HS ranks. Which begs to ask the question, if we have all these running QBs why haven’t we gone to an offense that can feature these players?

Was Booty not born in LA?

Did he not get a cup of coffee in NFL?

I remember he and Peyton came out the same year. I think it was ‘94.
