NEW ORLEANS (AP) - With just over two weeks left in 2018, New Orleans is on pace to see a significant drop in the number of murders for the year, and could mark the lowest number of killings the city has seen in nearly half a century

quote:

NOLA.com/The Times-Picayune reports as of Saturday, New Orleans police had investigated 137 murders this year. There were 151 murders in 2017 by the same date, and 169 in 2016 by Dec. 15.

Looks like the culcha is finding better ways to dispose of bodies and hide murders amirite or maybe New Orleans being a crime infested shithole is overstated based on its history..........

I’m contrast Acapulco had 953 murders for 700,000 residents. We should open the borders.

They are classifying some dead bodies as things other than murder

While that’s a good thing, it takes more than one data point to establish a trend. If it continues into next year, then you may be on to something.

That's because all of the thugs are moving to surrounding parishes.

What were the populations then and now?
Total number is meaningless.
How many murders per capital is meaningful.

So 4 years of declining rates means everything but 3 years is nothing?

The murder rate has steadily been dropping. Actually the murder rate has been steadily dropping nationwide.

Nola was at 151 in 2017 with a population of about 393K . NYC had 290 murders with a population of over 8.6 million. Less than twice the murders, abut 22 times the population. It may be going in the right direction but it still has a long way to go.
