Why does the US have low population distribution? (EC related)

Elections without the EC Joke
This is what dont understand: Many people on here say that the south and the western states other than CA are "true America". But why do most people want to live in New York, Texas, California, and Florida?
My own theory is that its primarily economical. But quality of life has other factors which I'm sure also contribute to it. Low population and high population states are inevitably going to have very different interests.
I have my personal preference, but both sides should be well represented.

because poor low IQ people have more kids and they tend to congregate in large cities where they have easier access to handouts, housing etc.

No matter what people say, our country is wayyyyy to varied geographically, racially, culturally to merely let pure majority decide who our most powerful elected official is. Senators, reps, etc. That's fine since the voting is limited to those states alone.

The Heritage Foundation did a good study on this about 10 years ago. Is middle America we think of the welfare queen as getting food stamps, medicaid and benefits from the feds. But in places like NYC you have layers of welfare that go away beyond federal programs.
State, county and city benefits to a single mother with only ONE child gets cash and in-kind benefits equally $15/hour for a 40 hour week.
She's not gonna get a job paying that when she is illiterate.

Take "Gay Marriage" as an example. Three times, 3, the majority of Californians overwhelmingly voted against it. In the most liberal state in America, the vast majority voted against a cornerstone of the lib agenda.

That's where the money is. Coastal areas for trade, and thus financial centers too. Texas has the added benefit of a shitload of hydrocarbons. There's a reason that around the world, population centers are on the coast or at least a navigable river. It is no surprise why the coasts have the people and the interior does not.

I have thought of numerous ways to defeat this. But I keep reached the same conclusion : at a certain point, the wages from working simply can't compete with federal aid.
Edit: my downvoter may be confused. I'm not condoning welfare. I'm simply saying that its difficult to convince people to work when they know that realistically they will earn less from full time vs the government benefits.

Add stigma and work to leaches. That's how you defeat it.
Not being ashamed of taking advantage of the system is a problem.
Of course that doesn't apply in all cases.

There is only one logical motivation to trade 15/hr to do nothing for 15/hr going to work. And that's the children. Psychologists have proven that kids follow the example of their parent's actions more than their parent's words. If they see mommy sleeping till noon and watching TV all day while drinking alcohol and smoking then they grow up considering that to be normal. And they end up doing the same thing.

Those either must have been Rasmussen polls or polls taken in the 1990's.
