Defense is still alive in Texas HS football

Many credit Todd Dodge and Southlake Carroll for the seismic shift in Texas football philosophy. Put your talent on offense and shred everyone with no huddle 4 and 5 wide sets. It's become the norm in Texas high school football.
Teams like Allen and Lake Travis are the new dominants via offensive perfection and a huge enrollment to pull from. Kyler Murray transferred to Allen to be a part of it and get more exposure.
It's been a great run for offense in Texas.
Enter the Duncanville Panthers...
The result? 13-0 record in arguably the state's toughest district. 5 points per game allowed. A 50-7 whipping of aforementioned, undefeated Carroll yesterday.
Next up for the Panthers? The national #1 ranked Allen Eagles in the state semis.

Allen destroyed Midway yesterday in Waco, 50-7!

Duncanville is legit and probably has more high end D1 talent than Allen. Should be a good one. Not sure why folks on here are saying Allen rolls.

Nope. Art Briles ruined HS football in TX

Stephenville doesn’t have that much influence

Samples was a great hire. His Skyline teams were always in the cusp. I’d love nothing more than to see them take down Allen.

I was at the game.
Their defense is legit. It's not 83 Daingerfield or anything, but I think they'll at least keep it a game with Allen.

That's been a thing for a long time.

Pretty sure that defense scored more than than they allowed that year, and it wasn't really close either.
ETA - Looked it up - their defense scored 76 points and allowed 8. I think the 8 were like a safety and a TD where they blocked the XP.

I remember when we had a student that transferred from Texas. Her old boyfriend was a football player there, and she said steroid use was the norm there. I don't know if it is that way in the Southeast as well, but it was news to me back then. This would have been the early 2000s.

Couple of things..
SLC and Dodge still played defense. Chad Morris when he was at Lake Travis is responsible for the offense that most of the state (and country) run right now.
Duncanville was in NO way in one of the toughest districts. Actually one of the below average districts.
Their defense is legit. For those saying Allen is going to roll, that’s not going to happen. Allen may win, but they aren’t even the favorite amongst most TXHSFB experts right now.
Allen gets (deservedly so) so much shite for their enrollment and refusal to build a second school.
But everyone should understand something about Duncanville. They have an attendance zone that is basically DFW. They are open enrollment. And recruit like crazy. Their QB (arguably their best player) lives across the street from West Mesquite HS. That’s 25 miles and about 8 school districts over for his commute. They also have players from Garland, Dallas, Richardson, Grand Prairie, Cedar Hill, DeSoto and more. They are basically a south DFW all star team.
But no one should be surprised. Their coach, Reggie Samples, does that wherever he goes. He did the same thing while at Dallas Slyline, and barring a last second TD by Kyler Murray, would have knocked Allen out of the playoffs back then.
The awesome thing about Texas HSFB is that as good as those two teams are, they aren’t even the odds on favorite to win the 6A D1 title right now. Houston Northshore looks unbeatable. And they will play Lake Travis this weekend.
So many great matchups coming over the last two weeks of the playoffs.
