No split

More councils means more tax dollars wasted

I'm voting against.

I get the angle of the Lafayette residents in keeping their tax reveenue in the city, but folks from outside of Lafayette spend more money in Lafayette than folks in Lafayette spend outside of the city limits.

I'm voting no.
1)The way they went about getting this on the ballot was shady as shite.
2) This split would create 2 councils and zoning commissions.
3) They redrawing of the parish council could result in all council members being from inside the city limits of Lafayette.

This is a bad deal that a few people who are term limited are trying to shove down the throats of the voters.

Screw them all. I'm not setting up a system where they can jump from city to parish council back and forth.

It seems EBR isn't the only parish with dissatisfied folks.

Any time a government entity wants to split itself into two separate government entities, I'm skeptical at best.

I’m just here to say that Lafayette is superior to Baton Rouge in every way except 7 Saturday’s in the fall.

I’ll just come out and ask -

Would a split allow for a black mayor in Lafayette?

I’m voting NO.

They won’t tell the voters who wrote the ordinance. No one knows!

Interesting....Lafayette' government has been the envy of a lot of other, more traditional models for a long time now.

The split would make money reallocation fairer across the board

I have no idea how Lafayette citizens were talked into "consolidating" with little satellite towns, each of which still maintains almost full autonomy.

Actually, I do. It's because you're fricking stupid, but Lafayette is now outnumbered and controlled by non-Lafayette people. They have a majority that you/we will never overcome, and the city will be ruled by the country, choosing its own financial benefit over all others, for the foreseeable future.

But I'd love to have heard the sales pitch. Lafayette basically handed the controls to a buncha provincial idiots (and the slime who migrated there to mold their mushy little minds in their own image), and got NOTHING in return.
