The Wall Street Journal reports consumption of canned tuna is plummeting, dropping 42 percent over the 30 years leading up to 2016. Starkist, Bumble Bee and Chicken of the Sea have all reported declining sales, and they all blame younger consumers, who they say want options that are fresher and more convenient.

The industry is trying to adjust. The report says companies are introducing premium brands that they tout as sustainable, exotic flavorings like sriracha and experimenting with easier-to-open tuna pouches.

A lot of millennials don’t even own can openers,” Andy Mecs, vice president of marketing and innovation for Starkist, told The Wall Street Journal.

Frick this world!! We can't even enjoy our canned albacore tuna bc millennials can't afford can openers!!!!!!!!

Millenials really do suck. On one hand they helped spur the fresh food movement, but simultaneously ruined it by being helpless twats who don't know anything, and demand they get the higher priced fresh food for free.

I eat canned tuna and cover it with ranch and mayonnaise. It’s a healthy keto meal

My millennial roommate actually put together his biweekly tuna/mayo/pickles with crackers masterpiece last night.

Dude makes $80k a year and chooses to eat that shite.

Love tuna

Agree, I prefer the pouch.

Also agree with person saying not to eat it at work. Wish I could but considerate enough not to.

I'd like to give one of these to an 18 year old and see if they could open a can with it
