Pun intended. Hunting open Delta land on power lines and levees. I hope to find something with good magnification but not cost too much. What are you baws using?

I have the SIGkilo1250 and haven't been that impressed. The reticle makes it pretty hard to range deer once they are much past 250-300yrds.

If you hunt the same stands regularly, get political signs or such, and mark 200 and 400 yard distances. I’ve got a decent Loupold, but it’s not that great trying to range a deer when they step out.

Thanks for the info. The Sig is highly rated and good to know about the reticle.

I have a sig kilo and it’s badass.

Are you seeing the same issues as Greenhead past 250 yds?

I have the one that goes to 2500 and they only complaint I have is it picks up everything. My brother and I ranged some things this past weekend and it will pick up a corner post at 250 vs a shed at 450. Same thing with a tree overhanging a gate trying to range a truck a 200 yards. I have a Nikon that couldn’t range the post or tree at 250.

I like my Leica

Which model Sig do you have? 2500 yds?

I have a Leica 2000b. I was gonna buy a sig but got this for a steal. Used it in Montana last week. Could easily range deer to 1000 yds

The Sig is great. Higher model = further ranging distance and magnification. Compare models online and pick what suits your needs. FWIW, all (most) rangefinders will have the same issue picking up a deer at anything over 300 yds. Finding reference points or having a steady hand will do you wonders.

It’s 2000 to 2500 can’t remember the exact model number but I do think that is supposed to mean how far it ranges.
Looks like I probably have the 2000 or 2200 because the 2400 is over $1,000 and I didn’t pay that much for it.

That’s a good point. When I ranged deer at 750yds, it was too hard to get the actual deer at 7x. But easy to range the bush or tree he was next to.

Yea that's what I end up trying to do. OP it has been a good range finder so dont let me scare you off. Also I want to say once you jump up to the next level from mine they use a different reticle. I've only really been able to use it at one area and I was limited on reference points I could use. Also like others have said it picks up things behind what you are targeting so it can jump around some. If If I had trees or other things to reference I would have been more comfortable relying on the ranges it was giving me.

Keep in mind the new model sig versions have a few different modes - one being ‘average’ which means if you range a deer at 250 yards and hold down the button, it takes multiple measurements per second and gives you the average after you release, meaning even if you happen to range over him for a split second, it won’t mess up your true distance. Huge advantage over many one click - one range models.
Also, it does angle calculations which is big for me bow hunting - if I’m in my tree stand it accounts for the angle and gives me a true reading. I used it Saturday to stick a nice buck!

I got the Leica Binoculars with a built in range finder. While in Montana I got tired of going back and forth between the 2. My guide had a pair of the Leica binos and loved it so when I got home I sold my binos and rangefinder and bought that.

Lots of good suggestions so far.
This is a pretty amazing deal if you want a Kestrel weathermeter as well. GA Precision gets all these closeout deals from Bushnell since they are right close to each other. This deal is still retailing for $999, but they have it for $579.
