Thousands of people have signed a petition calling on Maroon 5 to drop out of the Super Bowl LIII Halftime Show to express solidarity with embattled quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
The Change.org petition titled “Maroon 5: Drop out of the Super Bowl Halftime Show” has garnered more than 39,000 signatures. The appeal starts by saying Rihanna reportedly rejected performing at the coveted concert because she supports Kaepernick and his national anthem protests.
Kaepernick, the former quarterback of the San Francisco 49ers, made headlines during the 2016 NFL season when he began kneeling during the national anthem before games to protest social and racial injustices. He opted out of his contract the following offseason after the team told him they planned to cut him. Kaepernick has remained unsigned since then.
The petition states Maroon 5 has worked with “artists from all genres” who have “publicly supported Kaepernick in his decision to protest the violent racism sweeping the United States.”
“The band has a chance to stand on the right side of history. If they don’t, they will be remembered for choosing to side with the NFL over its players,” the petition states.
The petition asks the band to join other celebrities including Rihanna, comedian Amy Schumer and others who “have refused to work with the NFL.”
In September, Variety reported that the Adam Levine-led band will perform at the show, currently scheduled for Feb. 4, 2019. The band is known for hits such as “This Love,” “Moves Like Jagger” and “Payphone.”

I’m sure the NFL has been beating down Amy Schumer’s door to work with them.

If it's one thing I have learned through all this mess: life in America must be pretty fricking awesome for people to have the time and ability to bitch about such trivial shite.
These are not actual problems. The fact the people can preoccupy themselves with this means they don't actually have real problems.

I don't really like Maroon 5 but I hope they tell these petitioners to stick it up their arse

BLM and the rest of the race baiters need to just be ignored. Just like little kids they will eventually stop their childish antics.

The NFL needs to realize that black people who makes up the majority of their players are disproportionately being murdered by the police.

Lol.
In 50 years nobody will remember who performed at the Super Bowl XLIII halftime show. Heck, most people probably don't remember who performed last year.
And Kaep won't go down in history as anything more than the answer to a trivia question.

Wait. So boycotting the NFL is raysiss. But backing out of the Super Bowl halftime show is a good thing? I can’t keep this all straight.

High profile people need to learn to do what they believe in and not what total false outrage mob du jour is out there. Also, they need to learn never to apologize.

I like this idea.
Let's just start making people choose a side.
