Did they set the SEC Championship as a goal?

The West?

Cause, uh, they didn’t win those either

We are all irrational from time to time. That's the emotion and the love for LSU that comes out. We all want LSU to be the best at everything and win every game so bad that we end up saying some stupid shite sometimes.

there was always a shot when you had the Hurts, the Mc's (McCarron, McElroy) the Barnetts and Cokers of the QB world starting at QB for Bama. It just became a lot tougher now. But not impossible

That’s very true. I felt like Hurts was slightly one-dimensional. At least enough where we could stay in the game. Tua? That’s another level. Offensively they will be tough to slow down while he’s there. That’s probably what makes this years game so painful. I mean 29 points isn’t horrible. If our o could have stayed on the field longer we may only give up 20 or 22. That’s giving yourself a chance. But if you can’t score at all- that changes everything.

O said we have a championship program. We are building to a national championship. Had Orgeron championed a goal of a national championship this year with this team everyone would have laughed him.

Btw most teams set goals of winning the division. And the conference Good things happen if that happens. Not many teams can credibly claim to have realistic goals of winning the national championship.

Did you not see all the calls for his head after the Bama game?

Not really. What I tend to look at is how are those posters that have been making consistent points on one side or the other talking about each game. Are there any changes in their takes? Have they reconsidered anything? I never really care about what some random arse poster here think about anything, given so many have popped up out of the blue in the past 2 years spouting the same line.

It was as bad or worse as anytime that Miles lost to Bama.

If it weren't for titties and hyperbole, there would be no point in the internet existing. All you're missing now are the tits...

I'm as guilty as anyone of doing that. I try to look at things rationally, but there are times emotions take over and I get frustrated. Best example I can remember was I was livid at the way the offense came out vs Southeastern. Of course, it was premature.

If he didn’t, I’m more pissed off than before. That should be a stretch goal of LSU’s every year

Here is the actual quote if you want to compare it to the OP.
quote:

This team wanted to win the National Championship. We never talked about it as a team. I know they did. I know their heart was there. Not to say that we can't do it still and I don't know that, but we never set that as a goal as a team. I didn't want to put that on them because if you do that, once you don't have a chance your season goes south.

You guys are taking this way out of context.

He said "this team wanted to win the National Championship"

"But as a group we never set this as a goal"

And what he said after that was something like "if you get to a point where you're out of it, teams can get down and not feel like they have much left to play for... so they didn't want to do that to this team"

And he was right. Vegas put us at 7 wins.

Coach O knew he had ---

A New and unproven QB.
And all spring and in fall camp I am sure the D dominated the O.
He probably knew he had a good team but he's seen enough powerhouse college teams to know, he may not have a great one.

Give him a break guys. Geez.

“ just fire him right now”

Just because I’m able to look at what the program was before, what the program is now, and come to the conclusion that not much, if anything, has changed in the points I brought up in almost 3 years it doesn’t follow that I want anyone fired.

10 wins or a top 10 national ranking is acceptable to me. We haven’t pushed the envelope any further along in almost 3 yrs to obtaining a playoff caliber offense, but I guess we can’t have everything.

Best summed by: "A man's got to know his limitations!"

It's good for him to admit it since we know a title was never in the realm of possibility. Then again, it runs counter to "we're coming, and we ain't backing down."

Orgeron and his staff need to close out 2019 recruiting with a bang. We have a single 3 star d-lineman commit which I find discouraging given our current D-line situation. Ed needs to stop surrounding himself with sycophants.

you can count me onboard with getting a new OC, The offense was bad before the Arkansas game, but prior to that game we hadn't given up on the idea of trying to get a real offense going and it seemed in the relm of possibility. In the Arkansas game it looks like they just said frick it, we don't know what we are doing, so frick trying. If that is what even they believe then it is time to move on.
