Sounds a lot different when you read the "actual" quote.
There's plenty to be concerned about or critique without some people manufacturing shite.

[quote]No one had a problem firing Coach Miles for lying.
[/quote}
what are you talking about? you think there was some lie that got Miles fired? He got fired for a few reasons but none of those were about lying. We were losing with regularity to SEC opponents (12-10 in SEC play in the last 22 SEC games) and started the season 2-2 after having a 8-5 season just a couple seasons back, but with no plan to improve. He just kept the same Offense Coordinator with the same offense with no apparent desire to change from that outdated crap philosophy. Nothing was changing so it was time for a change.
Same thing could happen to Coach O (or any other coach we would have hired) but you don't fire a coach who went 9-4 in his first full season (and finished strongly after a bad start) and is currently 7-2.

Same and I am more critical of O than most. Pretty ridiculous thread. It's a shame many of the posters or readers of this thread won't go back and read the actual quote. They'll just take op at his word.

yes and he has proven it over 2 stints at 2 different p5 programs. If Aranda hit the market there would be dozens of programs wanting him.
I thought you were all about stats? Stats don't matter now?

There isn't anything wrong with it at all. That's why I said earlier that the quote in the OP was taken out of context.

I never once said that he should be.

Bull shite. I listened to the presser and that is not what he said.

but he didn't get fired because he lied about it (if that is what you call it, he probably believed it when he said it though.) He got fired because he not only didn't do it, he never even attempted to do it. He kept the same OC and who kept running the same ole script. Looked like nothing was going to change.
I guarantee you that if the offense we have right now doesn't change or get better, Coach O will be out the door as well. He will be the one who decides (as it was with Miles) whether to keep Ensminger or move on, and the results will rest on Coach O's shoulders. We aren't going to win shite next season with a shite offense.
To me the best case scenario is that this offense lights it up the last three games (fat chance of that) and we go into next season with Ensminger with whom the offense also lights it up and the team goes on to great things under coach O. Is that likely to happen? maybe, but probably not.
worst case is that Coach O keeps Ensminger, or gets rid of Ensminger, and the offense tanks and the season is shite and Coach O gets fired. Thus starting the process all over again at point zero. (edit: actually this might not be the WORST CASE scenario, still it is not a good one)
then there are a lot of in between scenerios.

“ got Miles fired”
Miles was fired because he hadn’t won the west since 2011, he had beaten Alabama since 2011, in his offense was not as productive as anybody wanted.
Almost 3 years later, and we still haven’t done any of those things. In fact, both the offense and how competitive we are with Bama has regressed.

Saban used to say that should never be your goal as a team. Your goals should focus on the little things to become the best.

Not just him but none of us. None of us affect the team or coaches any at all. That's why I don't understand why people post some of the shite they post.

Not those exact words but he just said he never set a national championship as their goal.
Joe Alleva and O both lied to the entire fan base.
I have been and will continue to be a supporter of O at least through next season, but man he needs to really think about what he said. We got rid of Miles bc the powers that be felt 2nd best wasn't good enough and we needed to win NC's. He says that? Well, coach, that may be your problem.

I don’t know bro. I bought quite a number of Tiger Dogs in my day. I’d like to think that carries some weight somewhere....other than my belly.

Read his actual quote instead of believing strangers on the internet. It's not what he said. Op is twisting his words around to push an agenda.

I would like to think that too. But, unfortunately we aren't the only ones that have stuffed our bellies with that grease. They care about our wallets, not our opinions.
