I've often heard the formation of Israel in its current form (as created in the 1940s) was a direct result of the death of so many millions of Jews in the holocaust.

1) Do you agree with this statement?
2) What other circumstances could have led to Israel's creation?

Zionism was going on well before then but no I don’t think there would be an Israel without not just the Holocaust but the World Wars in general.

No. Israel would still exist. The push for a Jewish state started decades before. Maps for Israel were drawn well before the Holocaust.

The desire of the richest family in the world and other rich bankers/industrialists that use the monetary system to control politicians and governments.

The fall of the Ottoman Empire had a lot to do with it as well.

No, we wouldn’t be guilt-tripped into protecting them and they wouldn’t have moved without backup.

Yes, because it was God's will that Israel become a country again and was foreordained.

Even without a Final Solution for the Jewish Question on the part of Germany, the devastation in Eastern Europe, anti-Jewish policies in Western Europe and Stalin's turn on the Trotskyites and his own Jewish population may have spurred enough immigration to Palestine, but I think the holocaust was key in garnering American and English support to create the country as it is today.

No.

Israel was placed where it is today to punish the Arab nations for their alliance with the Axis powers.

.The 1923 Palestine Mandate by which Britain was ruling the area provided for establishment of a Jewish Homeland from part of the territory, but Britain was not getting in any hurry to fulfill the Mandate. The Holocaust is the event that finally brought it about. A WW2 without a Holocaust may not have been enough, given the anti-Semitic forces in opposition to establishing a Jewish State.

We should have given them Florida instead.

The Jews weren't GIVEN anything. They bought the land from the Arabs.

We didn't GIVE them anything in Florida either, they bought parts of Florida same as anybody else with the money to do so.

seems like we could’ve picked a better place for them instead of a place surrounded by people that hate them.

Yes. But look at what happened to displaced Jews in Europe after the war. Many were living in camps. Read exodus.

By Arab nations you must mean Palestine, which had nothing to do with WWII since it was occupied by a British mandate. And obviously the British were keen to let the Jews in, as evidenced by their opposition to additional immigration after WWII.

Lobotomy is an appropriate screen name.
