He'd become a rock star there if he got them in a bowl game and pulled off 1 or 2 decent wins a season there. There is no risk and a lot of potential reward.

Kansas is win for them and for Les. He can make up with Chavis and bring him in to coach the defense.
They'd go bowling year one playing in the Big 12 and beat OU year two![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)

If Les wants a job, he takes whatever they offer. Could be his last chance.

He is excited about the opportunity to coach a damn terrible football team

You lost me here.
Les couldn't get out of his own way when it came to the offense. If he had, he'd still be coaching at LSU.

I like Les a lot, I just can't see Kansas as a good career move.
So you feel he should permanently do commercials, since NO ONE else is knocking on his door?????

This is the only answer to me. I honestly can't understand why it's so hard for people to get.
The man isn't coaching until the LSU money runs out. All he has to do is dangle his name into the mix and give the media the impression he's trying to get a coaching job.
They'll end up hiring someone else.
You can't understand why a football coach wants to coach football?
I don't understand why it's so hard for you to get.

Doesn't Les need to interview or something, to keep his end of the contract? I thought he did...
if that's the case, then this is just staying current.
I don't expect he's very interested, unless they offer him LSU level money and resources.

Les has "interviewed" before. He's supposed to do so, in order to keep up his end of the buyout.
He's got a lot of connections and friends in the football world, and every so often, he "interviews" with one of them. They probably talk about family and things like that, and as likely as not, he looks over their list of prospective coaches and gives some unofficial recommendations. That satisfies his requirements to keep the $$ coming in from LSU, and gives them (Kansas in this case) a consultant for free.

Kansas is win for them and for Les.
Look, I like Les, but get real. It would be utterly embarrassing for a guy who won a NC 11 years ago and played for another less than 7 years ago to accept a job at a program as shitty as Kansas.
No way he accepts that gig.

Yet, he's not coaching anywhere!
No big time program is calling Les! Even with a NC 11.......11 years ago and playing for one 7 years ago.
Best thing he could do is try to turn Kansas into Kstate/cincy/Pitt

Les’ buyout isn’t just reduced by coaching salary. It’s reduced by any and all salary. So those Dos Equis commercials, and anything else he does like that decreases what LSU owes him. He doesn’t have to go on “sham” interviews if he’s making money elsewhere.
This also assumes he hasn’t just been paid off in a lump sum to cut all ties. People do that with future streams of money all the time.

Les is fulfilling his search obligation in the buy out and elevating the job search for his buddy by putting a nationally recognized name in the mix
Making beer commercials is as hard as he wants to work these days. He’s done coaching.

Calm down.
I’m talking about the “bad career move” comment. He has had no career since LSU except beer commercials.

Hope he takes it.. I’d root for Les and Kansas. Kansas would immediately become my #2 college team.
