They hunt in every corner of the state. They missed the LA Duck Hunting funeral a few years back and refuse to admit that it is dead.
They believe it’s living on an island with Tupac and Elvis, hoping it might come back some day!

The marsh around Reggio and Delacroix hasn’t been the same. It’s lost so much land over the past 10 years it isn’t funny anymore. No one seems to want to address it and the commercial fisherman love it. Lost another blind down there for this season and probably will lose another by next year.
Gets harder to shoot greys and teal.... all you see are dogs (scaup) and other big water shite ducks..... if that.
That all being said there are still areas of Delacroix that do well... but it’s a losing battle on land. No land... no good ducks

It seems to me that all areas of the state are reporting low numbers, including Venice and SW Louisiana. Not saying there aren't birds there but not normal numbers.
I predict this will be the lowest duck survey released by the state in years when it's released later this week.
I have hunted Venice for 35 years and can't remember this few ducks down for the opener. I know of three groups of youth hunters that struggled last weekend and didn't see a lot of birds. So far the ONLY person I know of that is happy with the number of birds is you BigLee. I don't even see many guides posting videos all over FB and the like touting birds numbers right now. Think about that BigLee

Lets face it, Louisiana doesnt have the birds it used to. I have my theories but WWIII might break out if I mention them. This isnt your dad's duck hunt anymore, the game has changed. You used to be able to sit in the same marsh for 20 straight seasons and never miss a limit but those days are over. Its a game of adaptation now. Those that sit and wait for ducks to come to them are just watching as every other duck hunter passes them by. Although not as many as the time of "When I was your age..." era, there are ducks in this state its just a matter of who is willing to work for them but because its not like what it used to be, people wont change. We were spoiled with how easy it was to kill them then but now we dont want to adapt to the game because we know how little effort it took to kill a duck.

Got back to back fronts coming thru this weekend and early next week. Expect some good numbers first week of the season in SWLA

Coast prob won’t have as many ducks this year because arkansas, north Louisiana, and Mississippi have lots of water early and lots of food. We have two fields the farmer hasn’t even been able to harvest yet already partially flooded with rain water.
