It was sold to the fans as getting rid of a coach who ran a stone age offense and lost with top tier talent.

O is recruiting at an objectively lower level than Miles and like Les is transfixed by running an offense that is decades out of date. The "I need more time to fix the depth" is what it is - an excuse.

Maybe yall can look past this but I think about it a lot

It's an excuse at this point. Plain and simple.

The guy is a con artist.

Plain and simple.

Pete Carrol kept him around because he pulled a Milton and just kept showing up after the previous staff was fired.

He was a meathead cheerleader that he could count on to do grunt work and some dirty work, and Lane continued that after he showed how incompetent he was at OM.

I feared bad things the day Miles brought him off the trash heap in 2015. I just never imagined he’d steal his way all the way up to the top.

I do too

It’s why he kept the same s&c team, 80% of the coaching staff, etc.

In year two 11-2 top 5 finish is in play. Some tweaks are needed, but the program in not in shambles.

But lots of people here think he deserves an extension and a raise...

Unfortunately about half the offensive lineman transferred out or were asked to leave. Last year four defensive linemen took 100 percent of the snaps in quite a few games. Surely that tells you that's a lack of quality depth. People ignore the information that doesn't fit their narrative.

This is more bullshite. Currently the recruiting class is ranked #7 and has an excellent chance of jumping up.

Any hire takes awhile to turn things around.

Miles recruiting was fools gold. We had roster deficits because we loaded up on skill players (but couldn't get them the ball).

This is fact.

It is so stupid to blame coaches after a loss but not giving them credit for exceeding expectations.

O's ceiling is about to be late career Les Miles, most likely. That's better than many thought he would be, but it's the same kind of playbook. Lose to Alabama yearly, not be in the SECC discussion. Lose to a team or two you shouldn't, beat a team or two you shouldn't. Rinse. Repeat.

He has a chance at 11-2, which would be fantastic, but if it's another 9-3 season, that's the best he'll ever do most likely.

Yes. But those of us with actual brains with critical thinking skills know that was just coach speak and knew it would take 2 to 3 years to get our lines where they need to be...
