Excuse my ignorance on this subject, but St George would still fall under EBR Parish correct? So does that mean Mayor Broome would still be parish president to include St George?

I will bet once ST. is its own city, they will start collaborating with the rest of Zachary to dissolve the City-Parish system.

I do'nt know what you call lower middle class, but i'll just call you a moron anyway.

Upper middle class is considered $100-$350k. I'd bet the median income of the proposed area is upper middle class territory, and well above the national average.
I'd also bet good money that this new proposed city likely will have one of the highest % of families that send their kids to private school in the country.

Incorporation grants St. George city status.

They are worried that they will lose tax inflow because of this.

That is really all it is. They try to sugarcoat it by screaming “who will think of the children” or “white supremacy”.

It honestly is all about taking the tax funds of these areas.

It's not complicated.

If Downtown prospers and grows it benefits the parish, right? The same thing applies to Bsker, Zachary, Central, or any part of the parish, right?

So if SG becomes a city, it forms a great ISD, and it prospers; the entire parish benefits.

just wait until SG becomes a city, dissolves the city-parish government, THEN...... gets a new bridge and Southern Loop. Only reason to go to BR would be for LSU games.

EBR spends $10,755.00 per student
Zachary $9,780.00 per student

Katy ISD $8,596.00 per student.
Cy_Fair spends $7,967.00 per student.

I can tell you that Cy-Fair is building 4-5 new schools every year and constantly upgrading.

Starting teacher salary in Cy-Fair ISD is $53K with BS. EBR $44,500.00 with a BA degree,$48,400.00 with a PHD.

One has to wonder what EBR is spending their money on.

These schools are amazing. People often think they are on par with Louisiana suburb schools like central, Prarieville, etc... Which is simply not the case.

Please note only 2.6% of the school aged population attends private school in Houston, Austin, and San Antonio. It's over 26% for Baton Rouge and New Orleans. That tells you all you need to know.

Please note: yes higher property taxes which go to fund these amazing schools. But residents aren't paying state income tax either so it's a wash. Send your kid to a fantastic public school or spend 10K+ in private.

no one wonders. Everyone knows it is slush funds. Hence why i believe and want the next step for the SG movement is to dissolve the City-Parish Government.

If that happens, then BR rapidly starts to become a slightly better version of Jackson, MS. (or maybe somewhat similar to Birmingham, AL). But, that's kind of the fate for most relatively large cities in the deep south. The people paying for virtually everything get fed up that the bozo government leaders waste an inordinate amount of money on the ones not paying a thing. Eventually they just decide to take their money and forge their own path.

SG and a good ISD is our last chance to rebound from the malaise that has hit the parish since the heat white flight.

A vibrant SG along with Zachary and Central can change the balance of power in the parish. The NBR Dems see that and will fight like hell to keep what they have now.
