Obviously there are tall guys here, but for the most part, dudes have dark hair and are a bit shorter.

You notice it with the guys that have a bit darker complection. It's all the French, Spanish, Italian ancestry.

Never noticed in in Lake Charles or BR, but have definitely noticed this phenomenon in Lafayette. Cajuns are shorter in general.

I've noticed the opposite in Lafayette.

Well at least the guys. I'm 5'11, and most guys I see around here make me feel incredibly short. Granted I only see a small sample size, often repair or service workers.

My brother is 6'1. My dad was 5'9". My brother's son, who is in 9th grade is just barely taller than my brother. My other nephew (my sister's son) is around 5'9 and his dad is a little bit taller than he is.

After compression fractured vertebrae, I'm 6ft flat

And I am easily the tallest person in my family.

I blame the French.

French descendants. The French are generally shorter in stature. North of Alexandria, grant parish area, white people are tall as frick.

A lot of little sawed off Frenchmen in south Louisiana. Napoleonic complex with Cajun blood equals LSU fan. It's the stick that stirs the drink down there.

Back in the day, in order to procreate a dapper Cajun man needed to reach faraway swamplands. They were required to fit in small pirogues to travel and spread their seed. The ones who were too tall couldn’t pass their genes on.
