So I just watched Solo...

skipped it at the theater, mad at Disney about the current trilogy (especially TLJ).
And yes, I do agree, consequences for TLJ need to be felt by those that run SW.
But it's a shame; Solo was actually a pretty entertaining flick, much moreso than their current trilogy.
I think the real shame is that they didn't go this direction FOR the new trilogy. Rename the characters, make it a little bit different, and set it in the post-Empire galaxy. Show the lawlessness that actually WOULD have emerged, now that the monolithic government is cracked and failing. Kinda like early post-Soviet Russia; gangsters and regional despots running everything now.
You could have cast this "Solo-esque" character with exactly the same motives, same basic plot, just set it into a more modern era, and built to the same point... a likable rogue on a path to eventually joining the Rebel Alliance. Not for the Force, but because he wants a better galaxy and his desires overlap the Rebellion's.
Would have been a far more entertaining and romantic universe than the one they're building.

You should appreciate what they made. We mind always looks for perfection but the thing is it is not easy to make a movie like that. They did their best IMO.

You shallow, mindless followers just never get enough of copying from each other do you?
You post a pic of a guy that is dressed similar to Han and he’s the one that got away?
I just watched Solo last weekend and it was a lot of fun. Of the many things they got right, on the top of that list would be the casting of Han. He captured the spirit of the character incredibly well.

The guy that played Lando was the worst part of the movie.

I watched it for the first time last weekend.
Thought the first 20-30 minutes were boring and terrible.
Enjoyed the rest of the movie for the most part.
Wasn't a bad movie, and this particular movie didn't deserve the hate it got at the box office, TLJ did, and that's why i watched a downloaded torrent of this movie instead of going see it at the movies, or purchasing the DVD. It sucks that my hate of the previous movie made me not enjoy this one more, and that's probably why i didn't enjoy the first part of the movie, b/c it simply brought up old hate. Since the movie was pretty good, my love a star wars allowed me to enjoy the rest of it.

i saw it last week and agree. it was pretty solid
obviously it didn't have the scope/gravitas of the primary movies (or even Rogue One, which directly tied into them), but it was a pretty fun movie in the universe.

I loved Solo and thought it was awesome. But I remember being in the theater and thinking bad things during the first 30 minutes or so, but it turned around really well and ended up being super entertaining.

When you think about everything he had to do to even salvage this film, you realize Ron Howard is a miracle worker

Just saw it and thought it was great. To bad TLJ crapped all over Luke Skywalker and Star Wars, Ron Howard did a great job with Solo.
