How do you stay motivated?

I keep going in and out of phases where I work out consistently. Right now I am definitely out of the phase of working out regularly and need to get back into it. What suggestions do y'all have for making it stick this time?

Do it and motivation follows. Action drives motivation, not the other way around.
What are your goals? Why do you want to work out? If you outline that, then get in there and start making it happen, the changes you'll see are more motivational than anything extrinsic.

I like to be complete and total a-hole to my wife sometimes. That way, there's always a real possibility that she leaves me. If she leaves, I need to not be a complete lard arse to pull some tail.......boom, motivation.

Discipline beats motivation every time. Discipline is the correct answer.

My motivation is that I don’t want to be fat and be someone who can’t do stuff with their kids later in life. I want to be in my 50’s and still be in good shape so I can enjoy life.
Also, I want to be a fricking beast for as long as I can.

It’s like anything else in life. You either want it or you don’t. I have to be strong. I have to be in shape. In my eyes, being weak means I can’t step up and protect my family when it matters. It sounds stupid and archaic, but my mindset is always be ready to roll. Part of that is being strong and in good shape. So, I train hard.

After my pre workout kicks in, I have this feeling of pent up rage needing to be let out
I love lifting weights . I work a stressful
Job so when I have the chance it helps me unwind

It helps that I'm boring. Fitness is pretty much the only hobby I have.

You actions today can prevent that from happening to you.

For me, it’s races. I’ve become a full-on runner because race day is so much fun and I can achieve tangible goals with hard training.
Some people desire a particular body and work to achieve that goal.
Some want to eclipse a certain number of pounds whether it’s losing weight or pushing a bar off their chest.
Point is, you have to have goals to stay motivated or else it’s just a chore.

I do a lot of self talk. "don't be a lazy fricktard" or "you have the time, do it" "or get fat", "that guy at the gym is busting his arse, go bust yours" ect.

Look in the mirror and hate what you see no matter the reflection. That’s my motivation.

One of the techniques my trainer always told me was remembering imagine all those times you could have trained, or worked out. Where would you be today if you hadn't said no and didn't go work out.
