What lump charcoal do you use and store that carries it.

So B&B seems to be the only thing stores carry anymore and it is not all that great. Any recommendations on other brands and stores or locations that carry them.

TIA

I always found B&B to be pretty good. I used to get Kamado Joe brand at shoppers choice and loved it, before they closed down. Not sure when they are reopening and where they are moving to.

I’ve used Cowboy, B&B and Ozark Oak. Ozark was by slowest burning, longest lasting but it was also the most expensive. B&B was pretty good and Cowboy seemed to contain a bunch of construction debris.

Have used:
BGE
Royal Oak
B&B
Central Market
HEB
Publix
Cowboy ?
Western

All will work ok. HEB was the worst. Publix burned different from the others.

Currently using Western. Got a 30# bag at Wal-Mart for like $8. Good chunk size. So far, so good. Plan to buy more of it.

I use Cowboy brand lump charcoal I get at Lowe's, but I recently saw that Central Market here in Dallas carries lump charcoal in smaller bags.

I managed to purchase about 40 boxes of charbroil center cut at academy sports on clearence for 2.48/box.

It's the best lump i've ever used. Genuine high quality with good consistent sized pieces and very clean tasting, which to me is extremely important.
