Diamond District, NYC.

LINK

That said I know people that bought their diamonds on bluenile.com and the like. The store I shopped from had an inventory of diamonds on their website so I actually shopped there before seeing the diamond in person.

Literally no one says "three years salary". It's "three months".

And even that is ridiculous. She gets a grand or two. If she's such a materialistic count to get mad about that, we aren't compatible.

I want to downvote you for missing The Office reference but I want to upvote you for your sentiments on materialistic c u nts. Tough call

Do your research and pay what you can afford. Don’t worry about what anyone else paid.

Saunders Lux in BR

I got lucky

My wife's rich grandmother had these high quality 1.5c diamond earrings that she willed to my wife and her sister to be used in their engagement rings.

I still had to pay for the setting and some stones around the ring and on the side, but I want to say I paid $3500 for all that

bought from Pav and Broome in Gulfport. Picked out diamond and setting separately and had them "build" it. Seems can get a better deal that way. Paid 3000 appraised later for insurance at 8500.

The process seems straighforward- you make a purchase, and they put the ring together and overnight it to you fully insured. If nothing else it gives you a good price point to base your decision on.

I got a used one on eBay for $350.

I took it in to the mall and they gave me $1,800 trade in credit as long as I doubled it.

I bought a $3,600 1 carat ring with that

Another Blue Nile FTW.

Ive never had it appraised, appraisals seem like a bunch of bs just for insurance. Ive never seen a piece of jewelry sell for what it appraised for or even close.

I didnt spend much, but didnt have much when I bought it.

Super true. Appraisals make no sense, since you’d never be able to sell for what it says it’s worth.

JamesAllen.com is similar to blue nile & has decent prices.
