Sorry bro, but Elon musk style would be building a tunnel not a bridge.

This is a major project that needs to happen.
Multi-year major road projects are pretty normal in most parts of the country.
The huge question I have... Are DOTD and our local construction companies competent enough to do this?
Also... they need to really try to do as much of this at night as they can, as well as look at the total shutdown on weekend options (i.e. close the whole thing from 9 pm Friday to 5 am Monday) to do as much work as they can.
Maybe they can talk to TXDOT to get some help.

During construction, I'm glad I don't drive that stretch regularly.
Me either thank God. It's going to be a mess

The highland/siegen construction was a mess but now it seems to be worth it. At least on the I-10W side

The TV's are still gonna be shitty, the concessions overpriced, and everyone will still exit the highway by halftime.

let me know when the address the real problem by widening the bridge and adding 2 more lanes for each side so you dont have to do 10mph crossing it

Just to rub it in, Shreveport/BC has a loop with two interstates running through it (ok, it will be two when 49 is finished a couple of years).
On the serious side, sweet baby Jesus that will be a cluster during construction.

By the time they finish with the third lane it will require five lanes

If this is the case then it won't be long before SWB and BR has this all fricked up.
I can hear her now.
"why are we redoing this part of the interstate? Why not spend that money to do blah blah blah Southern blah blah blah north Baton Rouge"

It will take years, cost a king’s ransom and when it is all said and done, the traffic will be just as bad due to induced demand.
When more lanes are added, it brings more traffic from people that sought alternate, less convenient routes beforehand until the previous level of congestion is met again.
Basically, the new capacity will be filled by a new influx of traffic and congestion will not improve.

DOTD... probably not, This is a 350 million dollar project, you will have the big boys coming into town to bid this project, not just locals

You think they're gonna know which politicians to bribe to get the job?
The locals do.
