Tha frick are you saying?
Would it make more sense if I said people are so brainwashed that they elect people who vote for the government to dictate what they can consume?
Cover up, your bias is showing...
ETA: I'm even pretty sure that if the federal government decriminalized MJ and left the vote up to the states, you can bet your biased arse that at least 2/3 of the states would vote to legalize.
Even more if it was a popular vote and not each state government.

Right. I completely understand that. I don’t have any problem with someone being fired for being intoxicated on the job, legal or not. But if marijuana is as legal as alcohol, why can you be penalized for doing a legal thing on your own time?

Employers will ALWAYS have their rights.
Plenty of employers don't test now and it's illegal on the federal level.

Ky law makers are debating making med mj legal.
An expert said there is no proof of medicinal benefits of mj

It absolutely increases usage not only more being smoked by the individual but also lots more people using it.
Decriminalize. Don't legalize is my gut instinct.

Easy to say that of any substance that the govt prohibits research on.

I don’t disagree with that, I suspect the acceptable levels would change if MJ were federally legal to account for that. But those numbers are federally mandated for dot test panels

Friends thought their son was going to set the world afire: smart, worked hard in college and on the job.
Fast forward.
Son moved to Denver, works as a waiter and smokes a lot.
In his late 20s shows no signs of making any plans for his future.

Ok?
So is this your argument for keeping it illegal? Because big brother government knows what's best for everyone?

Pro mj people don't want to accept the facts, but this is 100% true in every situation I've seen.

Again... so this should be the basis for legalization?
Why not make Little Debbie illegal as well? You know how many people get fat off their snack cakes?

My take, if there would be a way to test right there, then and now, legalize it. Till then, hell no. There should be no way a person should show up at work stoned. Not much difference from someone showing up drinking.
On a side note. I put my time in work, retired and I think at my age it would help me take a bunch of daily pains away. Problem here, don't know were I could score some.

No employment. The OP asked if usage would go up if legalized. I don't think so based on employer drug testing. Most professionals I know wouldn't just start because it was now legal.

As a retired person that lives outside a small town, I would. Had smoked it before I went into the work force and didn't drink. Back in those days, it was the way to go. Haven't smoked it but one time in the last 40+ years after I retired.

No shite it increases usage. People go to Colorado just so they can get high without worrying about cops.
But somehow, I am supposed to believe this won’t be the case for other drugs.

Idk marijuana and tobacco is a pretty good combination

I was a teenager in the 80s
I wouldn't today if it were legal and I don't look down on anyone who would. I think it should be decriminalized though.

Many employers are treating a marijuana only fail as a pass nowadays.
