Spider-Man on PS4 SPOILERS Thread

I'm about a couple hours in and it definitely is a fun game. The swinging controls takes some getting used to but eventually you get the hang of it and makes you feel like fricking Spider Man.
The new suit Insomniac designed for this game is definitely an improvement over the classic. Looks sleek, sharp and definitely fits a body like Spidey's. And the other suits are amazing on screen. I'm also loving the ability to outfit different suits with different powers and gadgets. That's one thing the Arkham games could've used.
The graphics and how the city looks is absolutely amazing. Day and night.
The first boss fight with KingPin was good stuff.
My only complaints so far is that the camera is a little bit too close to Spidey and needs to be zoomed out as I need to be able to better survey the field and I feel like I'm directly behind him. That's what the Arkham games got right. Another complaint being that Spidey takes too much damage from one punch from even a common thug. He's a lot stronger than that.
I'm sure I'm going to see more that I like but also fair to say that I will also see stuff that I don't like.
Will report back shortly.

Does it play anything like the Arkham games? Like the fighting style? Free flow combat?

I played about 7.5 hours last night. I cleared all of the towers and collected the backpacks. I don't think I went too far into the story. Swinging is great and combat can be varied depending on how you utilize the skills. Overall it's pretty great.

How is the web swinging? Is it better than Web of Shadows?

Game is fun as shite, makes me wanna start smoking again if my wife wasn’t around lol I could get lost swinging around NYC for hours. Definitely the best superhero game since the Arkhams. I’m gonna take my time and platinum this bad boy

Unlock the Air Locks skill under the Webslinger tree ASAP. It's fun as hell and helps you reload focus and health

I played for a while tonight. Already at 28% completion. The Fisk hideouts are no joke, and the combat is fluid. I’m really enjoying it. I rented it from Redbox for 3 days, hopefully that’s enough time to complete the story. I also got all the backpacks, and the homemade suit is awesome.

Saw gameplay of the Scarlet Spider suit and now I’m headed to GameStop to pick up a copy

Stan Friggin' Lee!
At first, it felt like a repackaged Arkham game, which, let's be honest, it is.
It's got a soul and vibe from Peter's always running mouth, though, that makes it feel somehow different, even if it is basically the same engine reskinned with a tweak to the movement mechanics.
I've been having a lot of fun with it.

That's putting it mildly.
Holy shite those are hard as frick, even on friendly kid setting.
That's my biggest complaint with this game. Spidey takes too much damage from a single punch in this game and you have to keep moving him around at all times. I never feel like I'm in control of the fight.
That's one thing I really miss from the Arkham games where I knew I was always in control as Batman as I wore a suit of heavy armor that's still easy to move and I was about to open up a can of whoop arse.
Ok anyway, I just finished the main story of the game and damn it was pretty good. Definitely what I would see in a Marvel movie. I sort of had this feeling that Otto was going to be the main villain and I shouldn't have been surprised but I still was. That's how well they set it up.
But a big plot hole that we're going to ignore anyway is that a complete breakdown in the civil order of the largest city in America, a deadly plague manifesting itself that could threaten the entire eastern seaboard of the country, six super powered villains on the loose along with thousands of inmates and gangs roaming all over the city.
That's a big emergency where Spidey would've called in either the Avengers or the X-Men if this were the comics or one of the movies.
But still that last suit with the black suit and yellow spider is pretty awesome.
I'm going to work on getting the other suits now, the Iron Spider will be next target.

WTF am I supposed to do at the kidnappings? I run all around the red circle area while occasionally hitting the R3 button, but I can't find anyone.

Just look for a trunk of a car, and then pull the lid off.

The Fisk hideouts are hard but doable. I'm playing the game on hard and around lvl 8. I haven't leveled up my skills at all and only unlocked one web type and I was able to beat them all. It requires a fair amount of getting to know each encounter which really is pretty amazing. You stealth wave 1 and then you combat the next 4 waves moving quickly from different areas to fight your enemies.
Honestly, best gameplay I've played in a long time.
