Yeah they’re not bad once you get the hang of them. I just hit level 36, and already completed all the collectibles that I’ve unlocked so far. Just hit 70% completion. I’m really enjoying the story, and using all the different suits and gadgets is really fun. It’s a great game.

you gonna finish it tonight?

I think I've figured out the best way to get around the fisk hideouts.
You just keep jumping around, throwing things at them with L1 and R1 and webbing them with dodges and then web them down to the ground or the wall.
Really, I've given up on an all out bare knuckles brawl against them as it's more defensive in trying to web them to the ground and the walls.
You have to keep moving and jumping around.

Another thing that helps the hideouts, at least the ones on top of buildings: climb to onto the side of the building where no one can shoot you. Use the suit perk that refills focus. Use the focus to heal up, then wait for the suit power to restore and repeat. It's cheap, but it works.
I was really struggling with the fighting system at first, but I'm getting the hang of it now. I don't have much of an arsenal right now, but the triangle tap (where you pull yourself to the enemy) and holding square after finishing an air combo have been big.

Can you turn off any UI elements? I was briefly watching some streams of the game and I was a little put off by how busy the UI was. There are so many interaction indicators, navigation helpers, etc. it was really distracting.

I don't find the hideouts to be that bad, really. Having the perfect dodge skill or whatever certainly helps. The fun part is doing all of the different bonus objectives such as throwing enemies off a roof, etc. for each hideout.

The hideouts really become easy after you level up a good bit. I don't think I've died at one since I started the first one. The Sable and Prison camps are challenging, but only because of the flying Sable guards. I like them, but at this point they seem daunting.

You are supposed to keep up momentum but I beat all with doing a ton of fighting.
The main issue, on hard at least, is that so many enemies have guns that if you cants split up the groups by types, you're done for.
I.E. if you run from a large group, the regulars and the shields will follow close behind you where the rifles will stand around or get vantage and the RPGs will always go to vantage point. If a new wave comes in, I swung across the map. Fought the regulars until I started getting sniped, swung back across, fought the gunners until the regulars and shields came back, and swung back across the map again. It took me awhile to develop but it's effective.
I. It's have spent at least an hour on the first one.

The brutes are assholes. Hate them. When they make the sequel, they really need to nerf them.

Just beat it. Overall 9.5/10. Just an amazing game, and one of the reasons single players are great. The story start to finish was very well done, and the pacing very much felt straight out of the MCU. I only rented it, but once I read what the DLC contains I may purchase it. Definitley a must play if you enjoyed the Arkham games.

I bought a ps4 for this game today. Dumb decision? Yes. Do I regret anything? No.

So I am assuming that the Miles kid with the camera after the helicopter fight is supposed to be Miles Morales

Web slinging is so satisfying, just as gratifying as calling the Axe back in God of War if not more so.
Hope Venom/Green Goblin show up for the sequel.

side missions are a huge albatross on the game
I agree with you on this. They didn't really add anything to the story, and were very boring for the most part. I could have also done without some many MJ and Miles missions. Maybe 1 max for each of them.
