Burrow had a very impressive below 50% passing game

Joe Burrow was very impressive despite completing less than half of his passes. There were 2 clear drops, another couple which could have / should have been caught which would have brought him close to 60% for the game. He also threw away 3 or 4 passes when the receiver was not open.
Burrow was very accurte with ball placement and was throwing receivers open at times. The only poor passes were the one which was almost picked off on a slant which would have been negated by a roughing the passer call and another which he threw short on a 15 yard crossing route.
The passing game will continue to evolve as the young receivers gain experience and continue to develop timing with Burrow.

yeah i dont think the stats show what kind of game he had at all.

His throw aways were almost as important as his big completed passes.

He also had a bad pass to Carter in the end zone. It was a tough throw but he overthrew Tony by a solid 7 yards.
But that's nitpicking.

what were his incompletions, has that been charted?
his throw-away's were just as important as some of the completions.

was that on the far sideline with EZ on the left (on TV)? if so, wasn't he being pressured and he threw it away? or he had to make a high throw so no one else could come close.

Receiver didn't run the route. It's purely a timing play, so Burrow was letting it go once he saw Jefferson was able to beat the press.

I believe there was a heavy rush and he had to throw before Carter was able to create separation. It appeared he threw that one away but made sure it sailed over an eligible receiver.

Yeah the pass was so far off target from the receiver it was clear they were not on the same page.

He excelled at the things that dont have a stat line: Poise, reads, check-downs, audibles ect.
If he keeps that up, the stats will follow.

His decision making was great. Also showed great toughness.
Best play of the night might have been when he lowered the shoulder to pick up a 3rd and long with his legs as we were trying to run clock in the 4th. Had failed to convert on the last 8 3rd downs prior to that and really needed to get out of from the shadow of own end zone.

Huge pick up, allowing us to run an additional 2-3 minutes.

That play was obvious from the stands, so it was likely obvious to the Miami defense. It's a timing play, and Jefferson was disrupted at the line. Burrow put the ball right where he was supposed to -- out of reach of everyone, but it would have been right in Jefferson's hands had he not gotten tied up at the line.
Not at all a case of miscommunication or not being on the same page.

agreed.
He moved in the pocket exceptionally well. And I mean exceptionally, no hyperbole. I think he might have had a clean pocket to step up into 2 times.
What I can't stand is to see a QB stand in there, take a huge shot, deliver any way and the ball is dropped. That happened at least once.
A drop is one thing, but in that circumstance there should be a special hell for that WR (meaning sprints and juggs machine).
We talk about QBs losing their team all the time. Well, that will eventually lead to the reverse. For Joe Burrow to be the QB we want and expect, the coaches have to send a message to the failed people (maybe position group) that the QB sees. They might not fix the problem, but at least your QB knows there is an attempt and it is NOT him doing the bitching.

From 247:
“Between dropped passes, balls batted down at the line, balls thrown away and one pass breakup, that accounts for 10 of Burrow's 13 incompletions.”

There are a lot positives and a few negatives.
WRs had too many drops, but they bailed him out of few times.
Jefferson had at least 2 catches that were behind him, Giles had one, and he missed behind a wide open Giles in the flat where he could've probably run for 20 yards after the catch.
It was a solid performance, but it wasn't like he lit the world on fire.

No, man. There was one clear drop - ONE. If you want to add that in, okay, but what are you comparing it to? The averages you're used to seeing, in which drops are not added back in?
I thought Burrow did quite well. He suffered one clear drop, and Miami put a lot of pressure on him. He had a nice run for a first down, for which I add one attempt and one completion when I evaluate a QB.
