To let Dave Aranda get away...The more I look at this staff...I see a savant being led by a cheerleader......the contrast between the DC and HC is too stark to ignore...it’s almost like having Saban as a DC and gene chizic at HC...administratively we’re asleep at the wheel...have no doubt Aranda will be a successful head coach one day...problem is will he be ours..

In your opinion, do you believe that LSU will hire a head coach without previous head coaching experience?

Doesn't he already hold the title "associate head coach" or something like that?

Kinda sounds like head coach in waiting to me....

Solid 1st post

Has anyone ever and I mean ever heard Aranda say he has any aspirations of being a head coach?

Yawn...what a boring, tired storyline.

It’s 4 days before our first game. Give the coach bashing a rest and give these talented young men a chance to shine.

No one wants to talk about it. They're convinced Dabo or Urb is coming next season.

I think he's gone after this year and O already knows it. Just my opinion.

LSU will pay whatever it takes to keep him around but sometimes its just not about money. I believe Dave is happy in BR. Remember he has jumped around and hasn't stayed anywhere longer than 3 years. This is his 3rd year at LSU. He is finally getting all of the pieces in place to run his Defense the way he wants. He knows he has to show he can sustain and not just be a fixer.

He is going to start to get HC opportunities probably starting at the end of this year for some Group of 5 schools and lower Power 5.

Where? If it's as a head coach, then good for him. If it's as an assistant, he will take a steep pay cut.

You went to the trouble to create another alter for that?

Fending off overtures, especially the high dollar one from TAMU is not what I call "administratively asleep at the wheel".

Now I do have many issues about the admins decisions. But what you are saying and disagreeing with them are two different things.

And I still remember the rage over letting TAMU get Chavis. I did not share in that rage. I thought Alleva made a good decision there when pay/contract factors were added. That wasn't asleep at the wheel either. They tried for Aranda that year too.

For all intents and purposes LSU has two co-HC's (Aranda and Ensminger). O doesn't have the football acumen to step in and design schemes, call plays, etc. on either side of the ball. He's the ONLY SEC HC who has never been a coordinator. Once the ball is kicked-off he is relegated to watching the game like the rest of us and making decisions of whether or not to punt/kick or go on fourth down and maybe call time outs. That's about it and why you often see him with the mouthpiece on his headset up during the action. There's not really anything he can add.

However, that doesn't in an of itself mean he can't be a "successful" HC. But it DOES mean he has to have top notch coordinators because if they fail there is no HC to step in and try to fix the problem by taking over the playcalling duties or coordinating the defense.

We already know what Aranda can do. So O's entire existence as an HC now rests on Ensminger. The argument can be made that Canada was "forced" on Orgeron (even though the entire premise of him being HC rested on keeping Aranda and getting the "best OC in the country"). But that argument is out the window now. Steve is "O's guy". They are joined at the hip. Just like Alleva is with Orgeron.
