I need something I can throw into a 20' skiff and then transfer to and duck hunt.

What are some good options?

I don't know how to answer this. there are fiberglass pirogues and wooden ones. sizes vary depending on what you need.

If you can, I recommend getting one with the spud holes.

A 10-12', free, fiberglass one.

Them shites are expensive. Aluminum and wooden pirogues are so heavy. PITA with flipping out of boat and loading gear. I wouldn't even want to attempt drag one over a mudflat after water drops out.

for one man and gear, I use a 12' fiberglass one.

easy to load up, maneuvers well, easy to conceal.

last one I bought came from the pierre part store for a little over $300.

I can usually get 3-5 seasons out of one before I do something stupid and crack the side.

Bobcat 2 man pirouge.

It’s got a concave bottom that makes it really stable. It tracks good too. My brother has one and 2 people can use it if they don’t haul much gear and aren’t going very far.

I’ve got a water moccasin and it just doesn't track as well and isn’t nearly as stable. Also, it is taller so not as easy to hide as the bobcat. The bobcat is so low profile, we wouldn’t worry about hiding it. We would just put burlap over it and push it out of the way. Or sit on it while wadding.

Fiberglass is gonna be a lot easier to move in and out of a boat/marsh. I find their stability in the water leaves a lil to be desired. Not bad, I just don't care for it, so I use my wooden one for that reason. It is very stabile in the water for me. I am around 260 so that is my number one concern for sure. On the downside it is a heavy mofo that I hate dragging thru the marsh lol. Just something to think about.

Bayou fiberglass around Pearl River makes some good ones that are stackable. They are pretty big, two men + some gear is doable with little risk of tipping.

Man, I've learned the hard way. For the type of hunting and fishing I like to do Aluminum is the way to go! They don't break, and they are light. Grumman is my preference. You can drag them across open ground, lift them over fences, drop them off of your truck onto pavement etc...They are virtually indestructible. The onnnllyyyy disadvantage to me is that when one person is in them on a windy day they get dragged around by the wind. This is manageable by distributing your weight though.

Fiberglass starts to let water in through the finish and that is the beginning of the end. You have to sand and refinish and it is never ending.

Wood also is to dense and heavy. It splinters and is breakable.

They make plastic canoes, but they suck because the seats tear away from the frame....

Aluminum will last much longer than any other material.
