You really wanted Urban gone, didn't you?

Not really.

My posts on the subject can be found. I thought he was in an easilly defensible position until he flat out lied about not knowing to the media.

And, now I think it's obvious that OSU is maneuvering to keep him.

When it's said and done, I think I'll be right on both.

But, thinking the reporter is worse than Urban because he's reporting on the story is fantasy land stuff.

You have a point there but if Meyer complied with Title IX regulations you really think OSU fires him and risk losing relevance in the championship chase and to Michigan? As bad as this looks currently, people will forget this once the season starts and OSU starts winning the brand’s too big to be taken down by a scandal like this, it isn’t the scope of Baylor and Penn State let’s be honest.

I've said the same thing umpteen times in the last 48 hours. By the time tOSU gets around to playing Penn State and Michigan, this will be long forgotten. As far as it looking bad, the tOSU administration will take some mostly cosmetic action for PR purposes.

Doesn't have to be. tOSU's Title IX policy has a list of potential victims that make up the school "community" that includes "visitors."

"Members of the university community have the right to be free from all forms of sexual misconduct which impede the realization of the university’s mission of distinction in education, scholarship, and service."

"All members of the university community are expected to conduct themselves in a manner that maintains an environment free from sexual misconduct."

"This policy may also apply to alleged sexual misconduct that occurs off-campus, including virtual spaces, when the Title IX coordinator or deputy coordinator determines that the alleged sexual misconduct could reasonably create a hostile environment."

"University community: Faculty, staff, students, student employees, graduate associates, appointees, volunteers, supplier/contractor, and visitors.

Brett McMurphy is a huge douche and piece of media shite for how he presented the Lsu/Florida situation

Matt Moscona pantsed him on live radio and caught him in multiple lies/falsehoods

But in This case, unless it proves he is witholdong info he knows about, he hasn’t done anything wrong yet

IMO, Urban's future depends on the circumstances of his reporting, assuming he's telling the truth about elevating the issue.

And he better hope there isn’t something else he isn’t saying. Like pressuring the police or Courtney smith or any underlying commitment to Zach Smiths uncle.

Good point, we shall see what’s ultimately revealed though I am uncomfortable with tOSU including 3 of its own trustees on the investigative panel, possible conflict of interest much? Lol

Yes you did. It's cool. This administration is weak. You might still get your way.

He also reported that Smith was arrested in 2015, which was incorrect, then changed the story after the Urban press conference a couple of weeks ago. He didn’t issue any redaction or clarification but Facebook tracks changes so some people discovered it over the weekend.

There was a police report that said Smith was arrested.

The police department came back and said that was an error on their part.

Yeah, it's called he makes more from ESPN paying him to report from home than he would elsewhere.

Yes. In case you didn't notice, it's not just ESPN that has been cutting back on their number of sports journalists and the pay they are willing to give. The entire industry is in a crunch right now.

quote:

“The majority of the people [that were laid off] had long-term deals,” McMurphy said. “The thinking is, ‘Why would they lay off someone when they have that much time left?’ Well, they’re actually diabolical, because what they do is, they lay off all these hard-working, aggressive analysts and reporters and think, ‘They are not going to want to go one, two, three years being out of the game.’ So what happens is, I could take another job after I got laid off at ESPN, but then ESPN would be off the hook for paying me the rest of my contract.”

McMurphy offered to continue doing work for ESPN if they were going to pay him, but they declined—they wanted the reporters to either go away, or get new jobs so they could drop them from the payrolls.

So, McMurphy, realizing the game ESPN was playing, talked to a couple lawyers to see how he could skirt the non-compete and continue his reporting work. They told him that as long as McMurphy didn’t violate the non-compete and produce work for another company or a third-party, which could possibly include a site like Medium, ESPN would be on the hook to pay him his salary every two weeks for the next 18 months. And, unfortunately for ESPN, he didn’t exactly disappear.

“If [ESPN] would have said yes [to letting me keep working for them], they would have had Scott Frost going to Nebraska, [Joe] Moorhead to Mississippi State, and they would’ve had Urban Meyer and what’s going on at Ohio State. But they didn’t allow me to.”

Instead, ESPN let him walk, and while they’ve been depositing checks into McMurphy’s account every two weeks in return for absolutely nothing, he’s completed work that would make any sports media outlet kick itself for missing out on.

Neat. We're talking about McMurphy specifically. Why do you think he isn't working for someone else right now? It's not just the reasons McMurphy gave, either.
