Will baseball cards from the 80’s-90’s ever be worth anything?

The other thread got me thinking.
I have a ton of cards from back in the day.
Will they ever be worth anything? Even decades from now?
I can’t throw them away even though they might just be junk now.

So long as we don't take pennies out of circulation.

It’s doubtful. There are just too many people holding onto cards from that era to make them scarce at all. I’ve got tons as well.

They were really over-produced since the 70s, so they won't be worth much. The only one's that are worth anything are typically the mistakes. They'll already be worth something if that's the case.

I'm hanging on to my Topps cards till they are worth something.
Might take 50 years, but it'll happen.

Maybe in 100 years. They'll disappear little by little and eventually be scarce.
I have a couple of boxes in the closet.

I doubt it. Everyone who was a kid during that time probably still has their collection somewhere. I know I do..

Only if the world in enveloped in flames and when it's over, there is that one last remaining 1992 Upper Deck Jose Canseco.

No, not only cause there are so many of them, but also because the players from the era will never be long remembered legends like Babe Ruth, Micky Mantle, etc.

No. The bubble burst. The over saturization of the market has doomed it. You can’t get more then 5 bucks for any card that was produced in the last 40 years

I’ve got a couple of boxes in the closet too.
It’ll be 100 years before they have any value. And even then, it’ll just be 15 bucks.

Uncle owned a coins, cards, and collectibles store for years in the 80’s and 90’s and believes they will eventually have value as they are paper and will eventual fall apart if not taken care of.
That said, the amount of people collecting coins still outweighs cards by far, coins just have a much easier process of having a designated value.

I hope so my Ken Griffey Jr Upper Deck rookie card that I traded my Vision Grigly skateboard for is part of my retirement plan.

I have about 15 or so binders full of cards from that era too. I know they’re worth something...just not nearly as much as I’d hoped they’d be worth after holding onto all of them for 20-25 years
