Does being a good “fan” mandate willful ignorance?

I see so many posts about “supporting the Tigers” or “being a good fan” and the like. In the mind of fans that support the O hire and tenure, do you think that you must discard what we know about our coach to support the team and desire them to be victorious?

Does being a good fan mandate being a douche?

I get what you're asking, but you just started a thread calling out people who are supporting the program. Doesn't sound like a good thing to do IMO. Are they better fans than others? Of course not, but let's not condemn people for being supportive of their team. You're basically calling them out for trying to callout other fans. Sort of a pot and kettle situation.

Solid. I support O but didn’t support the hire. For me, I just don’t get whining about our coach now that he is the coach. I was not for the hire but I hope he works out. We can always be objective about the current situation and all agree what failure his Ole Miss years were. I believe all can point to his history of mishaps 10 years ago as a sign of the future if and when the wheels fall off. But, they haven’t fallen off yet, and if you think they have, I’d look at the last few years of the Miles era to see why we are in the shape we are in. I’m just ready for some tiger football

Don't confuse good fan with true fan

The Cheeri”O”s will deem anyone who doesn’t make 3,123,456,778 excuses for him and look beyond the next 5 months as toxic to the program! It’s lame, but that’s how they are. Some people just live such mediocre lives that above average is fine by them.

Come on over and I can show you!

Either watch or don't watch. Doesn't matter to us. We'll pull for the team no matter who is the coach and hope for the best.
It's not like I can walk into the athletic admin building and fire the coach so why fret about it?
I swear some of you people are too obsessed with the shite

Some of it makes for an interesting discussion in the off season, but I can't imagine thinking about enough to start a thread on it. Thank goodness we're almost there. We have actual American football on TV Thursday night. Can't wait.

I support the Players that wear LSU across their chest. No one should hope for a bad season just to get rid of Eaux. I wanted a different hire but I’m behind the players that chose to come to LSU to win a championship. I hope Eaux can get it done. You have to be happy Aranda is leading the Defense. Just waiting to see a passing attack.

No. But it means giving the benefit of the doubt.
So many on here are absolutely convinced in their own opinion on Coach O. They are actually doing the program harm from an image standpoint.
O is going to be the coach for 2018. So let the season play out.
It's not that hard.

Here's the deal. You can be critical of the coach/players/team/program when it's warranted. At the moment we are seeing positive things coming from the program, so why not admit that instead of saying it's all for nothing bc our coach has a bad history.
That's really all people want to see is for some folks to dial it down a bit and wait until he either proves your opinion right or wrong. I mean you can say and criticize all you like, it's your option to do so. But don't complain when others come back at you with negetive comments about your loyalty. It looks bad that certain people do it over and over and over. Really no matter if things look positive at the time or not.
I'm just ready for this season to get under way so these things can be resolved one way or another. We'll see soon.

Publicly criticizing the coach at this point in time only hurts the program. There is zero chance that a coaching change will happen before the season starts, so nothing good can come of it. If what you expect to happen begins to happen - then at least at that point your criticism would have a chance to effect change. So, best to keep quiet with your negative feelings and wait until the program has some wins or losses on which to base your feelings.

As will I. I don’t know why that means I cannot be honest with the reality of things though.

I think you’ve gotten your answer.

No. But it means giving the benefit of the doubt.
Benefit of the doubt is afforded to someone due to lack of sample size or good past results. Orgeron has a large sample size and poor past results.
