We are looking in Mandeville, Beau Chene, Woodstone, and the Sanctuary specifically

I'm seeing anything from ~45 to ~180 monthly. I lol'd at the $180.

my gf's parents fee is around $250. and they only live on one street. granted, each house is upwards of $300,000 so i don't know if that has anything to do with it.

When people get a divorce in our neighborhood we let them know that we don’t approve of their alternative lifestyle and ask them politely, but firmly, to move. You may have been ok for the neighborhood originally but how is a single mom going to keep the grass cut? Plus you never know what kind of strange men they may bring around.

I’m sure the Sanctuary would be $180+

How about living where you don't have some group of folks deciding what you can and can't do with the property you pay for?

Your rights are clearly spelled out in law. The problem is that some people think they paid for rights they actually don't have.

For example, most places the HOA legally has the right to maintain appearances such as a uniform look to the houses themselves or making sure nobody puts a car up on bricks in the front yard.

Read things through and find out what what you can and cannot do before you buy. Because if the law says the HOA can tell you when quiet hours are, too bad.

that is the thing though

I have no idea why people willingly choose to live in little fascist communities

you think its great because you think boats in the driveway are tacky, but then your neighbor decides your LSU flag is tacky or the color of your front door isn't an approved color

it's actually 340 a quarter, so ~$113/month which actually doesn't seem bad at all for the neighborhood

Beau Chene appears to be $183/month if I remember correctly, which I though was pretty damn high considering that doesn't even include club membership

Ours is $400 a year, which covers common areas, pool, playground, basketball and tennis courts and a large fishing pond.

The board isn't too crazy about stupid rules either. As long as you keep your yard looking ok, don't park your cars in your yard and don't paint shite crazy colors they tend to leave you alone.

161.

Golf. Swimming Pool. Both have fees.
Bar b q fiestas on Saturdays.

They are supposed fine people for various infractions. Dog owners ignore them.

I sold for profit and moved to quieter locale where I pay 339 HOA.
Worth it. Only small dogs allowed.
They yap but I can't hear them.
No dog near my house.
Also, water and sewer are half what they were. The golfers were ripping off the non golfers. Constantly buying new carts and now they are going to build a new clubhouse.
If you golf its great. .the big conflict hoa board deals with is golfers vs non golfers. The factions actually ran two recalls when I was there.

How is it trashy to have a nice boat parked in your driveway?

It’s a large vehicle man. It’d be like if you decided to park a tractor or a school bus out front. It’s just out-of-place in an average neighborhood.
