Okay, thank y’all for the advice! I felt like I was slacking, but between all the running and cycling I do I just can’t justify a gym membership for 8 or so days a month in there.

I’ve been doing 3 days at the gym and 3 days running with one rest day this summer. That’s only 20 mpw though. I plan to ramp up the running to 30-40 mpw when it cools off though.

ETA: I'm not training for anything at the moment though.

Just did a 5 mile run in Gallup, New Mexico, elevation 6500 feet... VO2 max dropped from 54 to 51 on this run. Definitely had to work harder to keep my pace than normal

I did 5 in Baton Rouge this morning and almost had to put my running tights on. It was brisk out there.

Leaving for vacation Saturday morning so I get to do my weekly long run tomorrow. Not looking forward to waking up at 4 am for 16-18 miles, working all day, packing clothes, and then waking up on Saturday at 4 am to drive. I may start an IV of coffee in one arm and water in the other.

Truth be told, my hip issue is the same one I’ve had for years. The weight training actually seemed to help, and it had disappeared for a year or two before I tweaked it in June.

Worst part of your day IMO. I HATE packing. Gives me anxiety! Haha

Ended up doing just over 16 and felt good. Just scarfed down a breakfast burrito and my first cup of coffee. Starting to work now (TD first though). One true benefit of working from home is being able to move my long run to a Friday and still get to work before 9. It would have been 8, but I made food.

Got 7 in today. Still feeling it from a track HIIT workout the other day. Was one of those runs that just felt meh. I’m still glad I did it but just felt like a funk.

On a another note. Any of y’all ever had any crazy long running streaks?

Y’all baws watching the Olympic marathon ? Kipchoge is a dude. I’m fully expecting BRM to make a move on him near the finish line though.

You guys are crazy. I bonked my long run marathon tempo this morning. Couldn’t get it going. After a 4 mile warmup, I ran 2 shitty miles at about 550 then turned around an jogged my miserable arse home. Ended with 9.7.

This weather is killing me.

Had planned on shooting for 16 today, barely could squeeze out 13

Sup dudes.

Just had my first long run over 5 miles in a year this morning. Friend doing a 22 miler asked for a little support so I ran with him for about 7.

It was realllyyy slow but it was really doable. I actually enjoyed it for a change and it’s been a really struggle to enjoy running for quite a while, hence my absence from this thread.

I may have to just adjust to running slow and try to run with people more.

Burt, other experienced runners: have y'all ever heard of the FIRST marathon training program? I find it very interesting as it only has 3 runs per week and two hard cross-training sessions.

Here are a couple of articles on it:
Article 1; Article 2.

I don't know if I'd feel comfortable attempting a marathon on just 3 runs per week, no matter how quality the runs or hard I cross-trained.
