Goodr are the only sunglasses I wear these days. My days of expensive sunglasses are gone. They never make it long enough to seem worth the extra money to me. I always break them somehow.

6 miles in the 100% humidity and afternoon thunderstorm. 9:20 pace with 600ft of elevation change.

Anyone run with their dog? I got an Australian Shepherd that needs to run some.

I tried running with my Aussie mix...she loses interest after a mile

Probably too hot to run with a pup right now tbh though.

Coach moved my vDot saw my paces for my workout this morning changed to 5:13 one on one off x 20. I proceeded with 3 mile warm up 20 @ 4:50ish jogging rest 4 mile cool down. Felt like a million bucks after.

I guess the point I'm trying to make is now that I've basically released myself from another's expectations, I am able to crush a workout using my own standards with out repercussion which feels fricking awesome.

Update: from the coaching saga email...

He wants to talk on the phone now. Today.

Not that it matters, but just so you know where I stand. I would recommend this dude for a lot of beginners or novices. I can't speak to the elites. Good guy; too busy or distracted for the detail in training I require.

Another update. He emailed me back and said “that he slept on it, and thinks I don’t trust him and is removing me as an athlete”

I gave him a list of reasons I was leaving and he chose to ignore them and make it about training. No apologies for the missed calls, just a complete transfer of “blame”. On the plus side, he refunded me a third of my money.

I no longer feel like the a-hole. Imagine be so self centered that your ego can’t afford to feel remorse for something you had complete control over but chose not to do then shifting blame to the person filling the complaint.

He has a chip on his shoulder and is more than willing to borrow your shoulder to help carry the load.

Summary: I told my coach I was done working with him primarily for missing weekly calls. Coach wants to talk about it and triage the situation. Coach sleeps then emails me that he’s dropping me due to insolence. :rotfl:

LOL

I know you probably don’t want to name names, but did you end up using the one I had linked a while back? I feel like it’s him

BRM,

At least this had a minimal impact on you due to races being postponed or moved + you got some money back. You can reset your way.

Similar to a break up before kids & house ...you can go different ways with no long term damage.

What makes you say that? Lol.

@TR not quite my ex wife and I still care for each other. More like: shite, am I glad I got out of this before it escalated. That type of relationship.

Just in the conversations you’ve shared. I don’t know the guy personally, but follow him on FB and Instagram and the responses to you seem like something he’d say. Also, he does seem busy/distracted based on his posts so makes sense.

And just to be clear, I truly believe he’s a good guy. I just think he has too much going on to be effective with me and my requirements from a coach.

Oh no doubt, that was clear to me from the get go. Like I said, based on his posts he’s probably better aimed at more beginner to intermediate runners. He’d probably work wonders for a runner like me.

Was talking about the ex, lol. Knew it was amicable but figured I’d throw a jab. Really sorry to hear about all of your recent losses, man. Although I know you’re not one to bring personal stuff here or look for sympathy.

Y’all ever have a bad shite experience make you paranoid on your runs? Two weeks ago I nearly shite myself on my Saturday morning run. I’m talking a 90 second decision to either dive into a bush in a busy neighborhood or find the nearest restaurant (luckily one was open for Brunch). This threw off some of my runs since where even the littlest tinge of having to shite throws me off. This experience two weeks ago was traumatic to say the least.

NIH,

Can't say I have but thanks for making me laugh out loud on a conference call where I wasn't on mute.

Had a period of two weeks where I was having to go in the woods pretty much every run. It was awful.

There have been a couple of times when I barely made it home after a long run once at a lake where the port-o-potties had no TP. I barely made it back to my hotel room after a marathon too. Lots of close calls.
