At last year’s Jazz Half I was cramping from the time I made the last turn all the way to Lafayette Square. I ran through the finish, past the open arms of my wife and straight to the portopotties. I blame Bon Ton Cafe’s bread pudding from the night before.

Has anyone heard whether or not the Northshore Half is a go or a probable go?

I've lost probably 3 shirts from not preparing for the potential of a mid run poop. I now run in fear and always have a ziplock of wet wipes in my flip belt. I have however made the choice to duck behind the bushes of a neighborhood entrance because I had no other choice. It was very unpleasant but luckily very little traffic at 5 am.

On a different note, 7 miles this morning was horrible. Started out at 84 deg and 94% humidity. Miles 6 and 7 were brutal as the sun started to come up.

On an even better note, I got home and the downstairs AC isn't running. Real first world problem as I now have to work upstairs for the day until the repair guy can make it out.

Hey Burt. Looks like I'll be in your area in a couple of weeks. The 23rd through 27th to be precise. Would be stoked if we are able to meet up for a run. We can attempt to schedule on my 'fast' day.

Yeah, man. Let me know. You should still have my number. Or you can get it from RS.

Never mind. I texted you.

Yesterday my 4 year old hit a pretty significant milestone. He was able to bike next to me (sorta) for a three mile run. Not a huge number, but hopefully this allows me to get in a few more runs every couple of weeks while my wife continues to work her crazy hours.

Attempted a threshold run this afternoon. It didn’t work out.

My mileage has dropped significantly last week and this week due to back-to-back travel trips and this oppressive heat. 18 miles last week, 7.5 this week. Not great for #goals.

Next week I swear to get back on schedule.

I was reflecting this morning during my run, and looking back on it, there were warning signs with ole boy. Not much of an internet presence since last year, his relationship with "believe in the run" didn't seem to last longer than an article or two, his attitude on racing, and then he talked about all these elites that he trains, but I couldn't seem to find them.

I think I might have got taken for a ride. I'm not sure it was intentional as dude seems a little too unstable to realize he might not be as talented as he thinks he is. Plans were pretty vanilla and buddy leans hard on that vDot app...

It made laugh a little out loud while I was cruising along. Lesson learned and I think I got a couple of good stories out of it.

For some reason I thought you were an hour or two away. I'm going to drop my number in the comments of one of your Strava runs.

If you wanted to not do that, I can just text him your number. I’m about a mile away from the the Bentonville square for what it’s worth.

Just did a 2.2 mile after a month off bc of this move

First run in my neighborhood and 97% humidity lol

First mile I thought it was going to die

Crazy how much you can loose in a month. Did an easy 11 min pace but my heart rate was 173 Lol

Will have to slowly build back those miles

I’m at home in a staycation. I’ll be drinking beers and not running for 2 days. I earned it.

14.5 this AM with the run group. Averaged 10 mins per mile. The heat and humidity are off the charts. We cut our route short of the 16 miles originally planned by unanimous consent.

My neighbor, who I've done every race & long run with told me today he is quitting. Just can't do it anymore due to motivation.

I'm not sure if I need to find a local running group or if I can do 14 - 20 miles by myself. I might try both to see how it flows.

Damn, that sucks RS. I’m sure you’ll be fine. Is the heat zapping him or what? Maybe he’ll be back when it cools off a bit?

Heat is a factor and it sort of turned into a bucket list thing vs long term.

Said he woke up, saw today's run + 15 more weeks and decided he didn't enjoy it or want it. I'm 100% happy for him and love him like a brother.

I didn't benefit from the accountability/motivation..Im committed on my own.

I did benefit from him being a drummer and he could set whatever pace was needed and treated his stride like a picture perfect metronome.

That sucks dude. Running without my running club has been tough. They’re a massive motivation for me. But I’ve done a handful of half marathons alone. Hopefully you’ll march to the beat of your own metronome until you can find someone else

Quail man,

Haha..thankfully nobody here will have to see me dance ...rhythm and following a beat is impossible.

I'll do my halfs with a pace group but once I get to 10 - 12 I'll see if I can manage alone.

If not I've just called a local weekend running club and it seems I have enough ability to jump in with them.
