Just a heads up to those that may not know (I was one): Check with your insurer - some companies offer 30% discounts on Garmin and other fitness watches.

Just as a fun aside, I got hit in the head with an acorn falling out of a 30 foot tree on a run through my neighborhood today. It actually legitimately hurt.

Good luck RS, but we know you won’t need it. I think you’re going to have a big weekend.

I have a 5k tomorrow. I really shouldn’t be doing it. Gonna be slow and painful. Good luck to everyone who’s racing, now is the time to be peeking.

Got a half tomorrow as well. I'm totally unprepared, undertrained and overweight. But I'll make the best of it and see what happens. There won't be a PR though. Two years ago, I set my PR in this race (1:27:46). I'll call it a win if I can keep it under 1:40 tomorrow.

Burt, where in Ark are you located? I was in Blytheville all week for work and I dread going there every time. It's not safe to run outside and it's too damn cold.

Rogers/Bentonville area. Also known as the place that consistently gets Fayetteville placed in top 10 lists of places to live. I kid

Looks pretty up there. The area I go for work is just miserable and dangerous.

1st half is in the books! St Jude’s was an excellent race, cold but fun. Was shooting for 1:55, got 1:51 and felt pretty strong throughout. Gotta keep pushing.

Good job I ran the half and it was my first half too! Not a runner by any stretch but decided to sign up for the race a few months ago and try to get in better shape. First run was 3 miles at 11:20 pace. Started out strong on my training but wasn’t able to run but 3-4 times the past 3 weeks with only 1 long run so wasn’t sure what to expect. Was hoping I could go 2:15 but the main goal was under 2:30. Finished in 2:18 with only walking at water stations so I’m happy.

Yep. Got a little drunk at a Christmas party last night. Note to self: don’t run a half marathon with a hangover. Still managed to run 1:36:19, but it sucked.

They don't give you refunds for knocking out the other runners as they try to pass. At least that's what I heard happened. RS just laying waste to anyone that tested him. Also heard it took like 6-7 race volunteers to drag him off the course before he could any more damage. Crazy, man. Never the ones you expect.

That’s funny but I’d be choking a race volunteer if they tell me I can’t keep running.

You guys are always good for a laugh ...

It was a damn human sideswipe ..marathon group goes right & half goes left at an intersection..she was trying to cross through our pace group to continue to full and whack

So embarrassing though, had to ride medical golf cart and explain to medical tent volunteer who is an Ironman finisher.

I was aggravated but personally I never fault a man for doing his job...they had to take me in and make me sit because it looked like I hit my head ...I explained I'm not athletic and it was more like a bad barrel roll but that didnt work haha

Advocate like hell for a boot. It will make your life much easier even if you aren’t allowed to put weight on it. The ability to take it off to shower and when you are sitting/laying down will be welcomed relief. Elevate and ice as much as you can tolerate as well.

Good luck with your recovery.
