6 miles this evening and everything felt off. Legs were stiff and shoulders were oddly sore.
Just going to call it a bad run and hopefully nothing lingering.
I hate bad runs in perfect weather.

Ditto. First run in a few weeks with a lot of effort. Did about 8x1k dashes because I didn’t have much in the tank to sustain it. Pretty sure I added 5+ lbs over spring break with poor eating and little to no exercise.
I’ve started aiming for 100 push-ups a day and 5 minutes of planks starting yesterday. Still going to the gym and all but need to get that core in better shape.

I’ve definitely accepted the facts bad runs just happen sometimes.
Just happens more to me than others.

I've started focusing more as well and I can already tell how much I've neglected my core. Three days of planks and I'm sore.
Starting out with 1 min plank, 100 push ups in 4 mins, 1 min plank, and crunches/sit ups until I can't anymore.

So, any of you gone to a low carb diet and really struggled with your running? I started a low carb diet 2 weeks ago (< 25g net carbs per day), and I figured I'd struggle with my energy levels for a few days before adjusting. But, I can neither run far nor fast now. The weather has been damn near perfect for running the last few days, and I'm struggling through 5-6 milers that I would otherwise crush, even at a heavier weight.
How long can I expect this adjustment period to last? Or do I need to up my carb intake and just accept that I will need more carbs if I plan to run?

I do whole 30 a lot of days of the year. Probably 275+.
Which is very low carb if you want it to be. I definitely feel a bit more lethargic and struggle if I haven’t been loading up on sweet potatoes or other starches at least a little bit. If I’m sticking to it very strictly it takes a good few weeks to get to the adjustment.
That being said even while whole 30ing, I drink a beer after a long run just to replenish carbs. I may be doing it very wrong.

About half of my daily carb intake has been beer.
I feel better otherwise, but I'm just hitting the wall on my runs. It's frustrating, because running is supposed to be fun for me, and now it's not. I'll keep pushing through and hopefully my body will adjust soon.

A beer after a long run is pretty much unbeatable.
Speaking of diet/weight. I'm thinking I may need to up my calories when Summer gets here. I'm still dropping lbs and not sure how much lighter I want to get. I don't count calories but have always eaten really clean and have really cleaned it up/cut back on beer to virtually nothing (more often red wine) the last year as running has taken over my life. I'm sure another Summer running in South La. is good for another 5-7 lb loss and I'm already around 135. Fuggin' Middle School weight.

135!! I’ll give you some of mine
I was 177 this morning. Would love to get down to like 165. I definitely don’t look like a runner.

Yeah, but you're about a foot taller than me!
Honestly, I don't think I look like a runner either. Compared to what I used to look like when I was throwing weight around sure, I might look like more of a runner, but not looking Walmsley skinny or anything... at least I don't think I am. My wife may disagree.

I’ve jokingly mentioned my chubbiness before but it’s pretty bad.
Right now I’m about 165-170 at 5’10.
I’m wanting to be sub 160 or 155 for a 50k this summer.

I'm down to 180 (from 188 two weeks ago) at 5'11". In December 2017, I was 165-167-ish and in the best shape of my life. I'd like to get back there, but honestly just want to get to 170 so I don't look like a sausage at the pool this summer.

What have y’all done to my thread?
Posted on 3/20/19 at 11:13 am to BurtReynoldsMustache
So, monthly checkup. I have built from january until now starting at a little under 10 miles per week and except for last week I have completed 3 weeks with 30 mpw.
about two weeks ago I ran a 5k pretty hard but kind of tapped out a little mentally at the end. Strava bugged out and quit at 2.8 and said my moving time was 20:26 for an average pace of 7:07
with a split of 6:58, 7:08, and 7:17
What kind of workouts should I be focusing in on to get closer to the 20 min goal.
My usual easy runs are 5-7 miles and I have ran 10 miles twice for long runs.
Speaking of weight since yall are on that topic, I'm 5'3 and around 128.

I need a breast reduction, you know, for running form sake.
