That sounds like hell.

I’d much prefer to run 22 miles in the conditions I ran today than on a treadmill.

Good luck to everyone running today.

It’s my second half and I’m shooting for a 9:50 overall pace. Feeling good but worried about the wind around the lakes. Gonna be a cold one.

Yah, it’s cold out. I feel really tired, maybe it’s the weather. Good luck! Miles 7-13 could be pretty windy. Build that mental toughness if nothing else.

Best of luck! Hope you have a good one.

10 today was wanting to get 13. Combination frostbite risk and my left knee exploding mile 6 or 7 cut it short.

It was only 13 but I didn’t wear the right gloves. Getting a soak and feeling like a bitch.

Was fine until about 8pm last night when I noticed my throat ached. Woke up this morning with full blown cold symptoms. Going to miss my long run this week unless I magically get better by this evening and wake up tomorrow feeling good.

Might be a blessing in disguise though as I am racing a 5K next Saturday. I’m planning on truly testing my speed and seeing if I can go sub-24 minute. My PR is 26:30 but that’s been in training runs. I haven’t raced a 5K since 2011 when I did a couch to 5K program and finished in 30 minutes.

I’m either going to average sub-8:00 miles or DNF because I face planted. Maybe tapering a bit into it will be beneficial.

22 mile run on a treadmill

This is obviously good from a physical training perspective, but doing these things increases your mental toughness so much. Makes the mental side of running for hours while outside seem trivial.

Is that good? I know he wasn’t expecting to really compete but I imagine that’s a really good time for an ultra runner.

Yeah that’s a fantastic time for him. Should be good enough to qualify for Olympic trials in the marathon, which should be even better suited to him

It’s world class.... but really slow amongst world class if that means anything.

64 would win most every other race that didn’t have world class runners.

5.5 at 7:30 this morning at 27 degrees . Being able to keep that pace lower.

My left knee gave me shite yesterday. First time I’ve experienced anything like it. Was able to push through but am going to couch myself a few days. Doc friend thinks patellar tendinitis. Did sprints Friday for the first time in a while and I think I just went too hard

I'm thinking it might be something like this. Will spent tomorrow on the bike trying to work through it a little.

Great job on the race gentlemen! Now have a beer and Who Dat! Go Saints!

My wife ran this morning. PR’d her half at 1:58. My son and I were out there and it was freezing. Thank god the wind wasn’t as bad as it was yesterday evening. I had an 8 miler training run and it was a beast.

Rivs Puzey missed the OTQ. He was on pace, but looks like he blew up the last 5-7K

I just read that. Hate that for him. He’s my favorite follow on IG.

I know he’s a super athlete and has a PhD in physiology or something, but I noticed he had two packs of pop tarts as his pre-race breakfast. I have to imagine a healthier choice may have been better for finishing the race strong. But what do I know.
