shite that’s solid dude! Might end up doing something similar my next long run workout day. I like that break up.

Thanks, I really like incorporating workouts into my long runs. Ran it with a friend who is aiming for 1:20-1:21 at Woodlands Half in a couple of weeks and then 2:55 at London Marathon. She’s a beast and will likely be a top 100 female finisher in London.

How did she get into London? I’ve heard that one’s super hard to get into.

I have been keeping my long runs easy this year. I like to just chill out for a couple hours and get the mileage in. I usually do my workouts on tuesday and thursday so that gives me friday through monday where I can recover for the next weeks workouts.

Website says 3000 women get in via qualifying time with 39yr old and under need a 3:42 and fastest times submitted get selected first. So if she’s running 3hr marathon already and aiming for 2:55 which is in top 100 women finishers it seems it shouldn’t have been very difficult for her to get entry. Otherwise 50% of field is lottery entries.

Yeah I think Tokyo is the hardest of the Majors to get into and Boston the second hardest.
So I have not run this weekend after huge goals... ended up with Bronchitis type symptoms and started running a temperature yesterday, called up my doctor and he told me under no conditions should I run this weekend :sigh:
I'm getting better and have good consistency, but this winter has been nothing but illness after illness after illness, I'm sick of being sick, stupid 1 year old...

Huh interesting. I’ve not done much personal homework on the oversees ones since I’m still a ways away from doing those. I have a buddy from outside of London that was telling me he thought that one was harder to get in for some reason. Must’ve been misinformed.

Another 10+ miler done yesterday. This is by far the most double digit runs I've ever fit into a training block. I just wish I had some speed to show for it

London GFA entry is only for UK residents. To qualify for London as a non resident, men need a sub 2:40. It’s tough.
Even going this route you’ll need to find a way to join a UK club team.

that sounds awful, but I'm thinking the lottery most be easier to get into or the "fundraising" route as well, because there are a few people in our local running club that have done all Majors, except for Tokyo.
Some of them the last one they did was Boston, but I haven't heard of any of them waiting on London. There must be some kind of trick they are using to get into London (one guy I work with, his wife got into London in January and he found a way to get in in like 5 weeks, he's running it - dude is a 3:58 marathoner...)

My buddy mentioned he could probably get me hooked up when I’m ready to do it but said even then it’s still tough.

First run back from another illness, the 2nd illness in my lungs in a month
Intervals, were supposed to be 400m at 5k pace 10 times but for some reason I misread it as 800m at 5k pace. After my 4th interval I realized I was running way too far and ended up doing 6 intervals. So I actually ended up doing more distance at 5k pace than the original plan had me doing. - I mean, I felt awful, but yay?
Kinda excited about 10 miles slow tomorrow, but then 7 miles at my "Marathon Goal Pace" which was my Half Marathon pace last cycle, they are going to have to scrape me off the pavement after this training plan is over.

OMG girl I have 10 miles today too! #Twinsies
Also you should check out the elderberry zicam. Ive been hitting it hard when I start feeling sick this winter and have never progressed past "i feel off" stage. I usually get a bad bout with bronchitis at least once, usually twice, a winter. Nothing so far.

Tempo Tuesday for me. I have a 6 mile route that I break into segments. 4 x 5 mins @ 155-165. 4 x 3 mins @ 120-130. Slow miles before and after then beers at the local BBQ place.
Cross train tonight and hill repeats Thursday. Good times. Good times....

I've tried it all, I'm just prone to getting everything and just feeling all around cruddy every so often. I'm actually very fortunate in that I rarely have an illness that knocks me out more than a day or 2, in fact I would say I'm one of the healthiest people I know when it comes to illness, I almost never stop; running, working, just all around "going" because of illness. Everyone else around me will fall out (including my wife) and I have to take care of them, but I almost never stop.
I've just gotten super unlucky this Winter and had 2 illnesses that effected my lungs (Covid and then this), it is what it is, fitness appears to have come back just fine:

Intervals are always that run that I don't want to do before, takes every bit of my drive to get me onto my feet and start running, but then feel the best after. I need to start doing hill repeats again, those are the workouts that suck the most while doing them and to top it off make me sleep like crap the next night

getting back to 20 or miles a week post marathon and being sick for a few weeks
running tempo miles today. Was feeling great, comfortably running 8 minutes miles which is rare for me. look down at my strava to see my phone on SOS
thought I broke my phone. I was pissed for a solid hour until i realize it was a national thing

Got my ten in at 6:43 pace yesterday. Doing a 4 mile tempo followed by a two mile tempo and some hill sprints today.

Did some 1 mile on/.5 mile off fartleks this morning with my friend. Off paces were about 7:25/mi. We ran the first mile together at 5:57, but I couldn’t keep up with her after that. I went 6:02, 6:04, 6:04, 6:02 for the rest. She went anywhere from 5:45-5:55 for the rest. She’s about to crush!!

Did 7 Miles at 7:51 today. My heart rate is already feeling the heat, I think we will stay about what it is going into March but it really feels like this summer is going to be an absolute scorcher.
