why were our d lineman getting blown off the ball in the first quarter? Excuses. State was better that day. No excuses

State’s first two drives ended with punts, they first scored in the second quarter.

Give me a break. The LSU D was on the field for 11 plays before State’s first TD drive.

MSU drives:

5 plays 29 yards
6 plays 18 yards

8 plays 65 yards TD
10 plays 60 yards FG
10 plays 54 yards TD

So after 11 plays, they were gassed to the tune of three straight scoring drives starting with an 8 play 65 yard TD drive

The two ejections came in the second half btw.

Then right out of the locker room from HALFTIME:

7 plays 48 yards FG
6 plays 79 yards TD

The D couldn’t get off the field all night. It was a scheme/technique/preparedness/motivational issue.

One TD in three drives is gashing? The score was 10-7 with under a minute until half.

Two BS ejections for targeting didn't help. (One of the worst rules in recent history).

LSU was destroyed up front. The DL was very injured and thin.

Wondering why the DC couldn't coach he way around getting dominated up front is laughably ignorant.

Well, Alabama is going to be without 2-3 starting LBs this year (between injuries and one kicked off team), so we should beat them right?

People will say, players were hurt, but still doesn't excuse it.

Teams always have players hurt, it's football.

These excuses we're here with Miles, and not getting the d off the field.

When in certain games that became a thing, it was after 13. Some of the longer drives in those losses happened in the first half.

The D shouldn't be gassed.

Miss St peaked in that game and played their very best. The way their OL was blocking was unbelievable. Actually, both of their lines played completely sound with very few mistakes.

Our lines played awfully. OL was abused by Simmons and there were major mistakes made. The DL couldn’t set the edge to save their lives and the ILBs were getting blocked almost every time.

This doesn't compute. It HAS to be the coaches fault. Haven't you been listening?

Uhh. Our 2 studs on the dline was hurt with inexperienced freshman on the road against a surprisingly good state team is what happened. Along with freshman oline goin against a very good state dline and an inconsistent qb/offense that got stunned early. Hell players and fans got caught up in the were LSU and they are 2-19 state vs LSU syndrome. Perfect storm. When I saw the sidelines pre game and the atmosphere I knew we were n trouble

Well bring all of the DL on the trip for starters.

If we were short handed enough that a couple of ejections and injuries would leave us completely helpless, how on Earth does O leave Thomas home?

In case it never occurred to you, travel rosters are limited. All they can do is make their most reasonable estimates of who they'll need, and that's based on years of experience. Maybe Thomas was nicked, or they thought he wasn't ready to help anyway, so they gambled they wouldn't need him. If you don't know why or how they decided who to take and who to leave, then you don't know shite. Hindsight is 20/20. It's easy to be a genius after the fact, but harder to make decisions in the moment.

I absolutely fault O for Herron being suspended. He was his position coach since January of 15. Over two years later he isn’t on the field, whether from grades or behavior, that coach failed to keep the kid on the straight and narrow.

Well, what the frick was he supposed to do? Follow him around 24/7/365? Go into every bathroom with him and make him pee in a cup seven times a day? Put a ring in his nose and drag him to every class and study hall? If he has, say 10 DL, is he supposed to clone himself into ten different people so he can follow them all around? He can preach all he wants but the dumbass still has to listen.

But, hey, just more excuses to bash O, right?

I have Heard of 1 injured LB

Moses, Miller, Afernee and Jennings are the startersz

They also still have 13 on the roster...

We had like 3 DL total at the end of that game. We couldn’t sub anyone, and of all the positions DL is the one that gets rotated the most.

We got outcoached in all aspects of the game and the players quit. People are all excited over Orgeron’s offseason but it’s like they forgot how unprepared and lost this team was a lot of the time last year. That wasn’t Canada, or Aranda, or Etling, it was Orgeron. His glaring deficiencies are going to show their heads again this season and every season that he coaches just like they have every season he has been a HC.

Those aren't excuses. Those are reasons.
