If they continue to produce at their current level or higher for several years and pick up some awards or rings...

Gore deserves it.

Gore is your classic case of what baseball calls a stat compiler. He's good for an uncommonly long period of time and by the end of it you look up and see a very impressive resume without ever having thought of him as among the best in the game at any given time.
Now some would argue that such consistently good production over such a long period of time can substitute for being great over a shorter period of time. That's just not how I view the Hall of Fame though. I would say that you've got to be one of the most fearsome players at your position. I don't remember ever dreading facing Gore. Just more like you look at a roster and see Gore at running back and think, "Yeah, that team is solid at that spot."
I absolutely believe he will be in the Hall of Fame. I wouldn't vote for him if I had a vote though. I'd lean more towards the Gale Sayers type who absolutely captivated the football world's imagination for an albeit shorter time.

So would a guy like Priest Holmes be one for consideration? There were few better than him for period of time. He has over 8,000 rushing yards (close to Craig), over 11,000 all purpose yards and close to 100 total TDs rushing and receiving.

Also against Holmes' case is that the system he came out of seemed to replace him pretty easily without any hitch. In fact, Larry Johnson seemed to perform even better. Every one of these guys has their own set of circumstances so it's possible that a guy like Holmes might be up for consideration. Just wouldn't be Holmes for me.

See Terrell Davis. I think it was 1BamaRTR who posted Davis' career stats. I can tell you that Priest has him beat numbers wise but that's where the comparison ends. It's all about the accolades. Also, Denver's system was similar to the Chief's in that you could plug in Mike Thomas, Olandis Gary etc and not miss a beat.

both of these were considered dominant though
Bettis never led the league in rushing or TDs. He played 13 seasons and 9 of them averaged less than 4 yards per carry. He is your classic compiler.
Martin at least has a rushing title to his name and was a good pass catcher. Put up 1K plus every season but his last
Gore falls in between them IMO. Better than Bettis but not as good as Martin.

Except baseball is baseball and football is football.
For Frank Gore to still be out there as a 35 year old RB is amazing.
The average shelf life for a RB is like 3-4 years.

Does Sproles get in? He’s currently 8th (with a chance to move into 5th) all time in all purpose yards. I doubt it, but he’s at least in the discussion.
Interesring argument. How much does the NFLHOF value ST?

I'd love to see Kamara enshrined someday and I certainly think he's on his way. So if he repeats or comes consistently close to his numbers from his rookie season for lets say +/- 9 years, but never cracks 1000 yds in any category, do you think he gets in?
Rushing yards:728
Yards per carry:6.1
Rushing touchdowns:8
Receptions:81
Receiving yards:826
Receiving touchdowns:5
13,500 +/- total yards and 117 career TDs + any ST contributions I think definitely gets someone in.

I think Jamal Lewis has a chance to get in if there is a push for him. Super Bowl champ, top 25 all time in rushing yards, all pro, OPOY and had a vote for POY. However, he had an arrest really early on in his career, drugs I think, and that could keep him out.
shite, there was a HOF murderer on that team.

I definitely don’t see him getting in. He was never regarded very highly for the vast majority of his career. He didn’t make his first pro bowl until his time with the Eagles and even then all 3 pro bowls were as a returner.
Also majority of his yards are from returns and a 9.2 PR average and 25.2 KR are not super impressive enough. He was solid returner but never the best in the league in any season. So he’s no Devin Hester in that regard.
Some guys like Sproles and many of the guys mentioned belong in the fictitious Hall of Very Good not HOF.

This is a tough question. Many others said Frank Gore, I would have never thought of him until I looked up his stats. This man has amassed 14,000 yards in his career. I would have never guessed. He has always been a pretty good back, I have just never seen him as elite though. But that consistency and longevity is sure to get him in.
Gore is the only back who has enough to get in currently if they all retired today.
Leveon Bell is closest. He definitely has alot of work to do, but I believe he has a shot if he keeps doing what he is doing.
If Shady is not guilty and beats this domestic violence case then he has the potential.
Beast mode has a decent shot as well potentially. He needs at least 2 more good seasons.
I'm ignoring the new generation of backs such as Todd Gurley, Zeke, Fournette, Devonta Freeman, and Kamara. This group is extremely talented. But Id reserve judgement on any of them until they've played at least 5 years

I'm of the opinion that both Shawn Alexander and Priest Holmes deserves to make it in. At their best, they were truly elite. Teams feared them, and they broke records during their careers. Problem is, they fell of the cliff terribly fast. They went from an elite peak to being a no one real quick. I don't remember what happened either, it may have been injuries. Regardless, they both deserve to make it in eventually.
No one else makes it.
Jamal is on the fence. He doesn't really deserve it. But being in the 2000 yard club at least gets him a shot eventually. Of the 7 in the club, 4 are already in. AP is a first-ballot when he retires. Jamal and Chris Johnson will be the big question marks. Cuz neither were particularly great outside of that 1 season.
Warrick Dunn is one of my favorite players of all-time. I will never forget meeting him and taking a picture as a kid. He will always be a HOF in my book.

he will probably make it for that one run in the playoffs alone.
