He is wrong you are right. Plenty of evidence keto especially when combined with intermittent fasting and especially long duration fasting can cure type 2 diabetes and get type 1 under control and reduce the amount of insulin need in type 1 by over half.

I know people fast and do plant based or vegan.
I try to do the whole flex dieting too. I fast, eat mostly fruit and veggies, meat with dinner. No dairy.

Plant based and vegan is complete horseshite. Anybody that follows a vegan or plant only based diet is a moron who can't research for themselves or is too big of a mental midget to come to grips that we are an animal and our food comes from other animals.
And fasting is fasting, no food. Dry fasting is the best for health but by far the hardest.
Want health, fast, when you can't fast anymore eat meat, good fats from oils and butter, avocados and green veggies then fricking fast again.

dunno about all that. But this thread is a perfect example of the stupidity that exist in america concerning diet. Its amazing really what a few hours of a thread being on the OT can do for shining the light on the uneducated masses.
I just don't get it honestly. How hard is it to take 2 hours out of a week to research instead of watching tv.
same uneducated people in this thread are the ones that can tell you everything going on in their 5 favorite shows. Same people that claim they do not have enough time to workout.

I agree 100% on scientific principle but we also have to be realistic about what the general population (myself included) will stick to long-term and this is definitely not it these days. This style of eating was probably prevalent in our hunter-gatheree days

Agreed. Although it's totally possible to be a flexible dieter and not always eat junk food. I think it's best if some middle ground is found.

absolutly agree. the shite works crazy good, but most people will not stick to it.
and 100% with you on felxible dieting. and yea it doesnt have to be all junk food but it allows that if people are too lazy to give it up.
i know the most optimal way is not always the best way for everyone and its what i have tried to get others to see. I understand in the long run IF with keto is the most healthy, but is it really the most healthy if somebody only does it for a 3 weeks, falls off the wagon and gains it all back? hell no.
flexible dieting might not be the best diet to reduce inflamation or blood markers, but if its the diet that allows people to lose 40, 50 even 75+ pounds well then it is the healthiest as losing that much body fat is going to make the absolute biggest difference in their health.

As many do on this board, I look forward to your input. While I don't always agree at first, I know that you know more than I do and after doing more homework, I usually follow your advice.
I started working on my health about a year and a half ago by joining my wife in a plant-based diet. I lost weight, but I was miserable and read one of your posts about how stupid vegans and vegetarians are from a nutritional perspective.
I transitioned to Keto in September and I'm down ~40 lbs. The weight loss has been great, but even better is the increased energy levels, mental clarity, lack of general aches and pains, and performance in the gym. My wife has experienced similar results.
It's become a very easy lifestyle to stick with and we have several friends who started off laughing at us, but are now joining us.
It's shocking how long we've all been fooled and sickened by low fat, high carb diets loaded with sugar.

This is one of the first books that I read when I started my health journey into fighting auto immune disease last August. I definitely learned a lot, but he is out there with his statements and recommends an extremely restricted diet. Can’t argue with the results, though.

I am reading the Cholesterol Code now. Very good book. I also recommend The Big Fat Surprise and Good Calories Bad Calories if anyone would like a history of how we came to fear fat as a nation.

Of course you'll lose a ton of weight doing that, you are starving yourself for days on end.. that shite is unnecessary and could easily lead to binging if someone with a terrible relationship with food does this.

Really? People have a bad relationship with food because they are babies. Food isn't a person, there is no relationship, food doesn't love you back, doesn't talk back. It's a one way street. You realize how much of a pussy you sound like right now? Same with people that talk about body shaming and being offended. A grown arse man shouldn't ever get offended and shouldn't ever be complaining about their "relationship" with food.
And good luck with binging after a 3 day fast. You won't get very far. Ask lazy if you don't believe me. You will be a miserable frick quickly.

Oh and starving yourself? If you are 40+ pounds from being 15% body fat then you aren't starving yourself. Your body has plenty of fuel to go 20+ days without eating. Plenty of cholesterol to fuel anything you need to do. People are just addicted to food period.
Our ancestors routinely went 2-3 days without food, they made a kill, feasted and rested. Look up how the Spartans lived.

And im not being a dick. You know I love you and will support you any way I can, but at some point you need a kick in the dick to wake the frick up. I realize you have been doing good and I realize at your age with no kids and tons of social events it can be hard and peer pressure can be a bitch, just have to man up, tell them to frick off and stick a line in your water so everyone thinks your drinking and they frick off.

I know what to do and don't do it I let food and drink control me. However, there are plenty of people that, while you're not entirely wrong, I think your message is far too simplistic.

There's power in acknowledging deficincies and working to improve them, be it a food addiction or any sort of addiction.
